Specification of Letters latent.

T0 all w7wm vlt may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM CI-IALMERS B1nm cifizen 01 the Unitcd States, residing at Colorado Springs in the connty 01 E1 1aso and Stute 01 C010 m10, have invented certain new and use1ul Innprovements in Gzune mpnmtus, 01 which the following is 22 specifi'cation.
'1his i1rvention re1ates to improvements in game apparatuses and embraces the const1nction 01 a device consisting 01 a rotatab1e sphe1e and 1neans for supporting the sphere so filmt 1he sa1ne may be 1'0ated around dif ferent 0110 of the objects 01 the invention is the construction 01 a ga1ne apparatus comprising a sphere having a numbe1 01 c0101s 01 1narkings thoreon, capab1e of being used f01' ga1ne purposes, anal a plurality 0f ad justable pivots for the ba1l 01 sphere Whereby ehe s:nne nmy be rotated a1ound diflerent axes, und difl'erent sets 01 the markings 01 c0101s nmy be alternately brought into the field 01 observation.
Another 0bject 01 the invention is the comstruction 01' a gzune appmatus for use in connectlon with fiags and similar symbols whe1eby u pleusurable game may be carried on.
W itl1 the above and othe1 objects 111 view the invention embraces certain c01nbinations, constructions and arrangements 01 parts, clearly described in the following specification und illustrated in the acco1npanying drawings, in Which,
Figure 1 is a perspec-tive view 01 1ny improved game apparatus, the sphe1e being shown with0ut the c0101s, Fig. 2 is a plan view, partly in horizontal section, Fig. 3 is a t0p p1an view 01 t11e sphere showing the colors anc1 1narkings thereof, Fig. 4 is 21 side elevation 01" Fig. 3 but without the colors, Fig. 5 is 21 detail view pa1tly in section, 01 a modified 1011n 01 a bearing, und Fig. 6 is a detail view partly in section 01 a bearing 0f a pivot supporting post.
Referring t0 the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes a base having a plura1ity 01 posts 2, rotatably mounted thereon, and disposed at right angles 10 the base. The posts 2 a1e formed 011 their lower ends With pivots 01 bearings 3, and 011 their upper ende: with bearing blocks 1-, having transverse apartures 5 therein. A plurality of pivots G, having enlarging heads 7, a1e slidably mounted 011 the bearing blocks 1, with the points 01: the pivots extending inward1y. The upper faces 01 the blocks 4- zue provided with inwardly pointed arr0ws 01 indicators S. A sphere 9 having a plura1ity 01' pivot holes 9, located around the centrnl portion thereof 011 a connnon plane is he1d for rota tion 011 the base by 1neans 01' Ehe adjustable pivots 6.
The sphere 9 1s formed 01 WOOC1 01 0rher suitable nmterial and is provided with 21 series 0f systematically arranged divisions and cent1a1ly located belts 10 and 11, which encirc1e the sphere und are disposed at right angles t0 euch other. Each be1t is provided with a series 01 nu1ne1als 12, und 21 mnnbe1 of stars 01 0ther symbols, 13, S11C1 1nnneral being arranged in units 01 five and alternating with the stars 01 sy1nbols. The nu 1neral's are arranged in the illnstration in nnits 01' 5, increasing 1:1011'1 the snm11 numbe1 10 to the greater numbe1 (30. This arrangement may however be varied with0ut aflecting the principle 01 the invention. In the quarter'sphere sections 01 the sphere lying between the belts 10 and 11, a nnmber 0f colors, 01' co1ored subdivisions 11 ure arranged.
In using the devicc 101 playing a fing game the sphere is supported 011 the pivots 6 so that the Same nmy be rotated t0 bring different sets 01 colors and nnn1era1s int0 view t0 be indicated by the 21110WS. In playing the gan1e 21 flag :is first se1ected and then an e1fort is nmde by the layers t0 1'0- tate the sphere 011 its pivot so as t0 bring different colors corresponding 10 the c0101s 0f the flag se1ected before the indicaring a1- rows. I1 the fing 01 the Uni1ed Stntes is selected the players strive 1 0 rotate the sphere so as t0 bring the colors 01 the flr1g int0 position with the indicating 21110WS and to bring the different stars 01 the belts into osition therewith.
The numerals are used in playing an entire1y difl'erent ga1ne. In using the sphere 10 p1ay a counting gzune 1he layers first select a ga1ne count an t1 then alternately rocate the bal1 01' sphere so as t0 bring difl'erent nu1nerals before the a1rr0ws, counting the indicated nun1erals unti1 0ne 01: the players secures a total equal 10 01 g1eater tmn ehe game count or winning total. By arranging different colors and different Secs 01 nu- 1nerals 011 the different subdivisions und 011 the diflerent be1ts the device nmy be employed f01 playing four diflerent games.
T0 effect the change 0f tl1e sphere 2111 thz1t is necessary is t0 slide the pivots 011 the bearing blocks and t0 rotz1te d1e piv0t posts 011 the base 213 t0 bring 0110 set int0 use 2111d as to hold the piv0t 6 there0f in plac-e against the sphere.
H21Ving described 111y invention I ch1i111 und desire secure by Letters Patent l. In a gan1e apparatus, a base, 11 multic0l0red sphere rotatable there0n, said sphere being provided with 111111101211S arranged in Order, n1eans 011 the base f01 pivocally supporting said sphere, whereby it 02111 be rotated 21r01111 1 different axes, und indicators 011 the supporting 111011119, adapced t0 register with said nun1emls.
2. In 21 gz11110 apparatus, 21 base, posts piv- 0ted 011 t-he base, pivots slidable 0n the' posts, und a n1ulticolored sphere supporced 011 the pivots, said sphere being provided with 111- dicia representing 1111111b01'5 and fixed indicat0rs adzipted t0 register with the indicia.
3. In a ga1ne apparatns, 21 base, posts piv- 0ted 011 the base, pivots slidably 1nounted 011 the posts 21 111ulcolored sphere 011 the pivots, means f01 withdrawing the pivots and 111eans f0r ]atching tl1e pivots 111 place.
4L. In a game apparatus, 21 base, posts 1nounted thereon, 21 111111ti0010red sphere provided with 1111111e1a15 arranged in alinen1ent thereon, 111eansczuri-ed by the p0sts f01 tatably supporcing the sphare and n1eans f01' rendering the supporting 11102111s inogerative, 21 latch f0r the supporting 111021115, and indicators registering with the 111,1111e1211s.
5. In 11 gan1e apparatus, a base, posts pivoted thereon, pivots carried by the posts and slidabl-e there0n, 211 n1ulticolored sphere provided with encircling spaces simulz1ting belts {111d arranged at right angles t0 each 0t11e1, said belts being provided Wifll numerals 111'- 1ranged thereon, said sphere being snpp0rted 011 the pivots, und indicating 112111ds carried by the p0sts.
In testimony whereof I afi"1x 1ny sig1mt1ne, in presence 0f tw0 witnesses.
