I. lTosKoV. MEDIGINACLl POWDER TOLLEB.
Patented Feb.2s,1911'.
.LPYLIUATIGN FILED JULY 9, 1910.
UNITED JOHN TOSKOV, OF LITTLE NECK, NEW YORK.
MEDICINAL-POWDER TOLLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
.Patented Feb. 28, 1911.
Application filed July 9, 1910. Serial No` 571,112.
To all 'whom fit may concern:
Ile it known that I, Jer-1N Tosirov, a subject of the Fiinperor of .\.vustria-Hungary, residing at Little Neck, Long Island, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented certa-iii new and useful Improvements in Medicinal-lzowder Tollers,ot which the following a specification.
The present invention relates to medicinal powder tollcrs or to un apparatus for tolling medicinal. powders and adapted for use in drug stores, etc.
Druggists generally experience some ditliculties in adjusting the sizes of bags or packages containing medicinal powders to make them fit boxes of certa-in sizes. To do this, they have to repeatedly fold and unfold the bags which causes them loss of time and owing to which the packages lack a neat appearance. To overcome these drawbacks, I have provided a simple device, which will enable the druggistto adjustthe packages to the desired size without any diiiiculty and will serve at the saine time as a press in which the filled packages can be kept under pressure until all packages are filled and ready to be placed into the box. By holding the packages under pressure, they receive a neatappearanee and will fit nicely in the box.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which similar reference letters denote corresponding parts, Figure l is an end elevation of the device; Fig. 2 a cross section on line 2--2 of Fig. l and Fig. 3 a vertical section on line 3-3 of Fig. l.
The device consists of two symmetrical blocks a, I) of wood or other suitable material, each formeel at its upper end with a longitudinal projection or tolling member a. and b respectively. These projections have each a lateral horizontal groove c2, b2 and sharp edges ai, 3. One of the blocks, as a, is formed with a central, transversely extending sleeve c which is adapted to slidably engage a bore e in the second block l). The sleeve c carries a nut d and the block b a threaded spindle y which works in the said nut. By turning the knob g arranged on the outer end of the spindle f in one or the other direction, the two blocks Will be caused to more away from or to approach each other.
In order to enable the adj ustinent of the package or bag containing the powder so that it may tit in a box of a certain size, the latter' is opened or the cover removed therefrom and is placed across the two projections so that one of its longer walls engages the grooves al. 712. 'lhen the blocks are adjusted so that the edges a, l'i ol the projections a, L strike the. shorter side walls of the box.
of the projections (z, 7J as indicated by dotted linesl iii Fig. l and folded around the edges CL3, b3, the length between a3, b3 corresponding to the inner length of the box. The folded package is then removed and closed in ordinary manner and is ready to be placed into the box.
In order to give the packages a neat appearance and to allow of a certain number of packages being placed into the box, it is often required that the package be compressed.
My device is formed with a press whereby the storing of the filled and closed packages undei' compression will be accomplished in the easiest manner. The press consists of a heavy bai' j that is adapted to extend at one side of the two blocks and transversely tothe same. It is adjust-ably mounted on lateral horizontal rods or bolts h, e' and has a longitudinal slot j through which one of the bolts, as i in the present example, can slide when the blocks o, are being adjusted relatively to one another.
The ready package I is placed into the space formed between the bar j and the side v'alle of the blocks and the bar moved to compress the same. Then another package is folded and closed, it is also placed into the space next to the first package and so forth as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2. .Thus the packages are kept under pressure until all are completed and can be placed into the box.
ll-That I claim and desire t-o secure by Letters Iatent is:
Then the box is removed and the j package I is placed over the upper surfaces l. The herein described powder toller,
coi'nprising two blocks adj ustably connected with one another and projections or tolling 3f if.; members formed on smid blocks, ouch momhcl' hzwh'xg u sharp odge und 2L lateral horizontal groove.
2. The herein described powder toller, comprising two blocks, one having a transversely extending stom and the other u boro udaptvd to adjustzlhly engage the said stem, und projections o1' tolling members formed on said blocks, auch mornbcr having u sharp edge and u lateral hor'tzd groove.
In testimony whereof- I uflix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
