My invention relates to improvements in flying machines, the objectof the invention 1 being 'to provide an automatically controlled equilibrium of the machine, in wh'ich-equi'lib rium planesare positively moved'by the engine when the machine tilts to bring it back team even keel... v

At the 'ends of the side wings 2, equilib rium planes 10 are pivotally supported between their ends to swing up and down at their front and rear ends, and. a third equilibrium plane 11, is pivotally supported in uprights ]2,'at the front and rear of the frame, and is adapted to swing up and down at its side edges. The purposes of these equilibrium planes is to compel the machine to right itself when tilte'd and my improvements which will now be described,
are designed to positively and automatically move the equilibrium planes.
Hangers 13, depend from the upper part of frame 1, and supporta shaft 1-1, on which a drum 15, is mounted to turn and a gear wheel 16 is secured .to turn with the drum.
-A wire or other flexible connecting device 17, is secured at one end to the forward end of one plane 10, thence around drum 15, secured to the latter, and thence to, and secured to, the rear end of the other plane 10. A wire- 18, connects the front end of the last-mentioned plane 10, with the rear of the first-mentioned plane, to compel the' planes to operate reversely, that is'when-the forward end of one lane 10, is drawn down, the forward end of vated. Frame 21 supports two intermeshing pinions 27, both of which are normally out of mesh with gear 16, but either adapted to be moved into mesh-therewith. One of these pinions 27, is turned by a flexible shaft 28, operated by the motor 29, which turns shaft 30, and propeller 31.
A hand lever 32 fulcrumed to a bracket 33, on framed, is also connected by a link ill, with T-fralne 20, at the end opposite to the. point of pivotal allaclnnent ol pendulum so that frame 90, may be manually moved. The purpose of this lever is to move inverted T-frame 20, around on shaft. ll, so as to make inverted T-i'rame. '0 hang at a dill'erentangle with the main 'l'ralne of the [lying machine, thus making the nnu-hine tip at an angle that will bring \el'tical'lmr of the inverted T-frame 20, in line with the pendulum. 'lhis lever 32 is to be used only in rounding curves. When turning to the right or left, the machine will tip, so that the side on the outside of the curve. will be elevated above the opposite side.
