The invention to be hereinafter described'- relntes to box cara and more particularly to box car doors.

Broldly speaking, it comprises door per, im over head rail. means for bitingtng the door from the mil, means for nd justing the door vertieally on tta supports, retaining lates iflidably mounted on the door, Inghp aten mounted on the enr body and lduptetl to t'operato with the retaining plates to hold the door in position, and moana for moving the sliding plates to and from operative position.
