Be it knownthat I, IVALTER FERRIS, a citizen of the United States, and resident of South Milwaukee, 'county f Milwaukee, and invented certain new and useful Improvements in Turn-Table Mechanism for Railway Pile-Drivers and the Like; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrlption of the invention, such as will 'enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to .railway pile drivers, steam shovels, snow plows, or other machines which may need to be reversed to enable them to get at their work.
It has special reference to apparatus of this kind in which the carbody .on which the machine is mounted carries atits under portion a turn table which may be supported on the railway track and on which the car and machine as a whole maybe turned end for end, in order to reverse its direction.
-The object of the invention is to provide an improved form of turn table, an improved arrangement of the turn table with respect vto the car body, and improved mechanism forraising and lowering the turn table as a whole4 with respect4 to the car, so that the latter may .be elevated and swung around through 180, after which. the turn table is ,moved upward from its operative position, wherein 1t supports the car, to a position directly beneath the bottom or1 deckof the latter, in which position it will not interfere with the track when the machine'is being transported from place to place.

In carrying out the invention, the turn i' table is constructed of upper and lower frames that are mounted beneath the bottom of the c'ar and held together against relative vertical and turning movements when the turn table 1s not in' use, each frame being provided with al'ball race'between which vand the ball race of the other framev anti-friction balls are interposed, so" that the swinging about of thelcar may be effected with a--minimum of friction.
