REFRIGERATOR.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Jan. 10, 1911..
Application led .Tune 24, 1908. Serial No. 440,106.
To all whom it may concern:
ABe Ait known that I, VYLIE G. WILSON, a. subject of the King of Great Britain, residing in the city and county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Refrigerators; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates generally to improvements in refrigerators but more specifically to a water cooler removably attached to the refrigerator, being preferably mounted 'upon the inner surface and set into the wall of ay door thereof, the said cooler having a faucet protruding through an opening in the door to facilitate the drawing of water from the vessel. This faucet is set into a plug which lls the opening in the refrigerator door, the opening being large enough'to allow the faucet to pass. The cooling'vessel may take the place either entirely or part-ially of the usual packing applied to the inside of the door. The vessel may be attached t0 the door in any suit-able manner as ,by pivoted hooks or buttons.A The vessel isrelnovable from t-he door by throwing these buttons to the unlocked position and then moving the vessel in a direction to cause the plug or block in which thefaucet is located, to slip out of the opening in the door thus completely detaching the vessel when for any reason it may be necessary or desirable so to do.
Having briefly outlined vmy improved construction I will proceedto describe the saine in detail referencebeing made to the accompanying drawing in which is illustrated an embodiment thereof.
lIn this drawing, Figure 1 is a front elei let the numeral 5 designate a refrigerator and 6 one of the doors thereof. Applied to the inner surface of this door is a vessel or water receptacle 7 As shown in the draw- 60 numeral 9. This packing may be of any desired thickness or entirely absent if deemed desirable. Attached -to the lower part of the vessel is a circular block or plug 10 which fits into an opening 12 formed in the door. Through this block is passed a faucet 13 which is threaded into the vessel as shown at 14 and serves to attach the block thereto. This block aids in holding the vessel in place upon vthe door. Fastening buttons 15, however, arek pivotally connected with the door on the inside as shown at 16 for further securing the vessel in place. The top of the vessel is provided with a removable cover 17 for purposes of filling.
From the foregoing description it will be understood that my improved watercooling vessel is readily attachable and detachable. This is anfimportant feature since it greatly facilitates the work of both cleaning and repairing the device. lVhen it is desired to fill the Avessel it is only necessary to open the refrigerator door and remove the cap 17. lhen it becomes necessary to remove the vessel, it is only necessary to open the door, throw the buttons 15 to the unlocking position, and then move the vessel away from the inner surface of the do'or. In this event the plug 10 carrying the faucet readily slips out of the opening 1n the door.
It must be understood that my improved water cooling vessel may be a plied to any part of the inner wall of a re rigerator, but it is preferably mounted upon a door thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
' v 1. The combination with the door of a refrigerator, of a vessel carried by the' inner surface of the door, and removably mounted` thereon, the door having an openino' in the lower part thereof, a faucet arranged on the receptacle to project through the said opening when the vessel is in position on the door, a plug carried by the faucet and of suilicient size to closely fit the opening when the faucet projects therethrough, and insulating material interposed between the re ceptacle and the door, and plug, and extendllO ingl beyond the plug on all sides,l to cover faucet'- projects therethrough, an insulating the one side of the receptaclej substantially means extending beyond the plug on all as described. sides and arranged to cover the entire side 2. The combination with the door of a re- I of the receptacle next to the door.
