Fire-Box; and I do hereby declare that the vfollowingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which willenable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had' `to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

A is the fire-box. y i C represents the grate-bars.

D is the dome or combustion-chamber above rthe fire-boxproper.4 This dome may `be `made of metal or tire-brick, or other good heat-r`esisting material.

The fire-box is made of fire-brick, or lined with that `orothfka'r `incombustible material.

E is a pipe, placed horizontally in the fire-box, made' Iof firefbrick or other incombustible material, extending across the lire-box into 'the space between it and the outer casing of the furnace. 4 It is perforated at intervals with small-openings a al, through which a small portion of the flame from the firefbox may jet into the interior of the pipe.

F isa flue, extending from near the crown of the dome D to the perpendicular due G, which, descend- .dome through the pipe-F ing between the outside of the tire-chamber i and the exterior casing of the furnace, has free communication at its bottom With-one end ofzthe pipe E. The whole furnace may be surrounded by a wall` and arch of brick-work or masonry, as represented 'inf the drawing.

I claim as new, and desire to. secure by Letters Patentil. The pipe E or its equivalent, with or, without Apexforations a a, and the pipe b, in combination with the tire-chamber of afurnace, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
