The carrier has an upwardly extended mm 8 upon which are seeured the guide 9 and the cutter 10.

11 is a spindle block having un orifiee in whieh the lower end of the eutter is adjustubly seeured by means of the screw 12.

13 represents pintle screws between Whieh the b1oek 11 is swiveled. By adjusting these pintles the point of the eutter can be longitudinally adjusted with referenee to the eye of the table without removing the cutter, and the eutter may be readily removed for grinding and the depth of the eut can readily be adjusted a1so.

The guide 9 is seeured to the arm 8 upon the other side from that upon which the cutter is attached. The guard is eurved forwardly end upwardly and has the foot 14 lying above and adjacent to the table. The concave portion of the guide 9 is beveled off et its front edge 20. Its curvature end rojecting in 1eur of the cutter afiord a "1'ee accese of the shoe shank to the table, allowing the shoe to be presented in substantially upright position thus insuring a vertically inserted stitch. The cutter is curved forwardly toward the table and inwnrdly toward the guurds for the smne purpose. Vhen the eurrier is thrown outward the pivotal mounting of the cutter relative to the stationary table withdraws the point of the cutter from the eye of the table, so that the shank can be stitehed without removing the attachments. Owing to the relative positions end eurvatures of the cutter and guard the shank of' the shoe can be presented to the table with the shoe upright, when the carrier is in forward position. If it were not for these features of construction the attaehment would have to be removed for stitching the shank, or else the shoe presented at such un angle thnt the resulting stitch Would be very angular.

15 is a braeket gibbed upon the earrier end secured thereto by screw 16, and currying a shield 17, preferably of flexible material, held by clamping plate 18. Ths shield at all times stands in front of the table and protects the 'shoe upper from the oil and WELX to which it would otherwise be exposed.

Guide 9 iS held on arm 8 by means of the screw 21, the head of Which is on the front of the arm, the inner end engaging nut 22 on the inSde of the arm, the nut being held by the pin 28 projeeted from guide 9. By this means the guide can be swung out of positon by loosening screw 21 from the front to give access to the sewing machine and it can be set in place end tightened from the front as the pin holds the nut stationary.

Having described -my invention, I claim 11. In un attachment for a sole sewng machine in combinaton with the table, a carrier, a; cutter and guide thereon curved inwardly end forwardly with reference to the table, and a shield adjustably secured to the carrier, substantally as described.

In un attachment of the class described, a carrier arm, a guide on the inside thereof, a, set screw having its head on the outside of the arm, a nut on the inside of the arni engaging the screw for securlng the guide to the arm, end a pin on the guide engaging the nut and holding it stationary, wherby ment to the carrier to the work support being curved in substantially parallel lines to eonform to the shape of a shoe upper in position on the machine, permitting a free presentation of the shoe, so that the needle wilIpass vertically through the Sole at the shank of the shoe.
