Beit known that l, FREEMAN R. Winn sox, Jr., a citizen of the United States, re siding at iVorthington, in the county of Franklin and State ot' Ohio, have invented and useful Improvements in Conveyers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates to that class of con-` veyers in which idler pulleys or rollers are employed for giving to a conveyer belt a` trough-like form for the purpose of retaining the material laterally.v
The object of rmy inventionis to provide ilnprovedmeans for supporting adjustably the idler pulleys of such a conveyor.

In the drawings, a indicates a cross brace to which is secured by means ot' the bolts u' the base frame A upon which some ot' the pulleys are supported. This base frame A. consists ot two vertical walls l, C and thc central rela-tively horizontal web plate Q, the two vertical walls and the web being cast integrally with each other. The central web plate Q presents a contour in transverse vertical planes of a peculiar form, havin 0' a purpose to be presently described.
indicates a centrally disposed horizontal pulle suitably mounted upon pedestals indepen ent of the base frame A, already described, although it will be readily understood that such independent mounting is not a'necessary feature of a construction embodying my invention.
E, E are side pulleys'which are inclined to the horizontal and are disposed symmetrically on either side of the central pul- 'ley D, the whole being arranged to support a conveyerv belt F in trough-shape. The pulley D is shown as offset from the vertical plane of the two pulleys E, but some of the as )ccts ot' my invention are such that this oftset feature of the central pulley is not requisite to an embodiment of the invention.
Each side inclined pulley E is carried by a bracket o r frame G longitudinally dis: posed relatively tothe pulley, the said bracket `or frame being provided with uplwardly extending arms H, H', which afford bearings in which the pulley-shaft e is joui;- naled at either end. The more outwardly disposed arm H has a lateral extension or projecting portion I, in which is keyed or bolted a shaft 2' adapted to carry the guide idler pulley J, the latter serving to guide the conveyer belt and to keep either edge thereof from sli pping or jun'iping upwardly to al1 undesirable extent.
The frame G carrying the pulley E is of a width suitable to B, C, of the lower stationary frame, and its lowerl portion moves more or less freely between the parts B, C., in a longitudinal direction. The said frame G in section somewhat resembles an I-beam, having a relatively narrow web portion g with upper and lower lianges g, g2, and is provided with a curvilinear slot K, preferably cutgin the are of a circle. Passing through the vertical walls B, C, of the lowerstationary frame, and through the slot K, is a pin L. preferably screw-threaded. v
The inner end of the frame G is curved at its lower edge, the curve being in the' form of an arc ot a circle, the center ot which is at the point indicated by the letter R on the drawings. The slot K is like- Wise in the form of an are of a circle about the 'saine center. The web Q presents inV longitudinal sectional outline a double curve made up of the arcs of circles Whose centers are at the points R, R respectively. The side pulleys E can be adjusted by moving the frame G to any desired position with respect to the base frame A. During such movement of adjustment the curved end of the frame G engages the web plate Q which thus becomes a bearing surface. The frame G is held in position a rainst the web Q by means of the slot K an pin L, already described.
When a' predetermined adjustment of the frame G on the pin L is obtained, the frame is locked vin the desired position by means of a hand-wheel M movable on the exterior screw thread of the pin L. The said hand- Wheel is provided with an elongated hubportion m which passes through a hole in ft in between the walls loe `the pulleys J-J along' the upper. contact edges of the three pulleys E, If. E is con-- stant for all positions of adjustment of the pulleys ll, ll. is a nresult of this constant distance between the edge gl'lide 'pulleys J-fJ, the belt is prevented from being lashed back and forth transversely, a fault which results in prior constructions from pivotingl the pulleys at relatively low points and is apparent when the. side pulleys are adjusted to their lowerniost positions.
By forming the slot K, the lower edge of the frame Gr' and the web plate Q with curved surfaces concentric with a point upon the upper belt contacting edge of the pulley, the pulley is maintained in constant relation with the belt transversely in all positions of adjustment. Other advantages also result from the construction described,
which will be readily apparent, and which Ido not consider it necessary to describe in detail.
What I claim is 1. A conveyer belt support comprising a horizontal central pulley, a stationary sup.- port havingtwo curved surfaces each presenting in vertical section an are of a circle about one end of the upper contacting` edfre of the stationary pulley as a center, two pu ley carrying frames, each formed at its inner end with a mating curved surface adapted torest upon and slide over one ofthe said curved surfaces upon the support, and pulleys arried by said pulley carrying frames and supported at a variable angle of inclination at the two ends of the horizontal pulley to forni a three pulley troughing belt support.
