To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, F ORTUNATO EMILIO Iomo, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Vernon, in the county of est ehester and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Card-Playing Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to game apparatus, and has for an object to provide a box or receptacle with improved means for holding balls and delivering a single ball at a time.

A further object of the invention is to provide improved means for delivering a single ball at a time from a. receptacle without such ball being exposed to view until delivered and without the remaining balls being exposed to view.

A further object of the invention is to provide in a receptacle a retainer for cards or other devices employed in association with the balls to play certain games.

With these and other objects in view, the

' invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the drawings :Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved apparatus showing the card-containing drawer partially open and the ball-delivering slide moved to delivery position. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the improved apparatus as on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a view on the line 33 of Fig. 2 looking downwardly. Fig. 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of the ball-delivering slide. Fig. 5 is a detail view showing the slide in relation to the adjoining parts.

Like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

The present invention comprises a box or receptacle 10 preferably provided with an inclined bottom as indicated at 11 with a depression 12 formed substantially midway between the ends and an opening 13 through the side of the boX communicating with such depression 12. The position and arrange ment of the bottom, depression and opening are such that the balls 14 disposed within the receptacle roll toward and into the depression 12, and unless restrained, out wa-rdly through the opening 18. To restrain and prevent such balls rolling outwardly a slide 15 is secured to the side of the box by any approved means as the screws 16 ihsert-- 'and moves slidably upon the base or bottom 11 so that when moved to delivery position the selector 19 covers the depression 12 but when in reverse position as shown at Fig. 3 the depression is exposed and in position to receive one of the balls 14. The proportion of the selector 19 is such relative to the tie pression 12 and opening 13 that when moved to delivery position as shown at Fig. 1, the selector prevents any one of the balls 14 entering the depression 12 other than the one already therein, and permits the ball therein contained to roll outwardly through the depression 12 and opening 13, and through the recess 18 in the slide. It also partially covers the opening 13 to such an extent that the balls 14 cannot pass into such opening when the slide 15 is in delivery position.

lVithin the receptacle a ledge 21 is formed to act as a guide for the selector which covers the connector 20 and partially covers the selector 19 when in inoperative position.

It will thus be apparent that with the parts positioned as shown at Fig. 3 one of the balls 14 will enter the depression 12 and opening 13. It will be apparent that by a movement of the slide 15 one of the balls 14 will be delivered but only one and that it is impossible to form any idea prior to delivery what ball will be delivered as the box is entirely closed from view.

To facilitate inserting the ball into the receptable after having been delivered an opening 22 is provided with a slide closure 23 moving between guides 24 so that when moved upwardly the opening 22 is uncovered and permits introduction of balls into the receptacle.

The game which is to be played with the balls which are delivered to the opening 13 may be any game desired but as shown at Figs. 1 and 2, a drawer 25 is provided which is adapted to contain cards 26 for the playing of the game of lotto or any other approved game.

What I claim is 2 1. In a deviceof the class described, a re ceptacle provided with an inclined bottom, a recess in the bottom adjoining one side Wall of the receptacle, an opening in such side Wall adjoining the recess, a slide provided With an opening arranged to register at times with the opening first mentioned, a selector Within the receptacle and operating over the recess in the bottom thereof, said selector provided with an offset connecting portion passing through an aperture in the side Wall and being connected with the slide, and a ledge projecting inprojecting inwardly from the side Wall fori holding the selector in position.
