To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Ensems M. liner, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salina, in the county of Saline and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Gloss Holders, of which the following is a. specification.

My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in window glass holders, and it consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, und in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a glazed window sash having my invention attached thereto. 2 is an enlarged transverse section of e same taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

The object of my invention is to nstruct a very practical and efectivo strip for securing the glass in window frames which will form a. perfect union between the lglass and stile and further o tes to hold the lass in a yielding position or in contact with :i rabbet formed in the stile for its reception in the said window frame.

Another object of the invention is to provide a strip of this character which may be readily removed from the window sash should the glass become broken or otherwise injured.

My invention therefore consists of a inetallic strip preferably constructed from thin or sheet metal and composed of a single piece, the same being so formed or shaped along its length as to securely hold one of the longitudinal edges or portions of u. textile strip, felt or other fabric, the free edxre of which extends the full length and breadth of the yielding portion of the metallic securing strip whereby the felt or other material so employed and secured in the strip is yieldingly but frictionally held against the glass located in its proper position within the Stiles of the sash.

Referring to the dinwings, l rcprese ts the oppositely located vertical guides o n sash or window frame which is of the ordinary construction and rabbeted in the usua wey to form vertical guides for the oppositely located Stiles 2 of the sash frame. The sash frame referred to is also provided with the usual rabbct for snugly receiving the lass 3.

ll y invention consists of c resilient metal strip preferably constructed from sheet metal of a pliable nature and is so formed aiong its length intermediate of its opposite edges as to provide a centrally locate overlapping looped portion 6, the said portion of the strip being secured in its proper position in respect to the rabbet of the frame by screws 5 or other equivalent fastening de vices. The opposite free yielding portion 8 of the resilient strip projects inwardly from the looped portion 6 thereof, the inner surface of which is parallel to the inner surface of the securing portion of the strip but disin a. plane rearwardly thereof and located within the looped portion of the strip is secured a portion of the felt or other textile strip 7. The inner or free edge or longitudindportion of the felt 7 is normally interpo between the glass 3 and the yield irlilgllongitudinal inner portion 4 of the niet v 'c strip, whereby the glass is held yieldingly but securely within the rabbet formed in the window sash.

This construction provides a very practical and neat appearance to the window sash when the parts are assembled and the glass secured in position in the manner described, it. being observed that the strips are properly cut and mitered to ina-ke a perfect Vunion where the ends thereof connect at the correspondin ends or corners of the window sash as early shown in Fig. l of the drawings, it being further observed that any suita e ornaments pressed or otherwise constructed from sheet metal may be employed und secured to the corners so united to cover the miters referred to and present u very neat and attractive appearance.
