To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LAMBERT, J. 1301100, a citizen of the United States of America, re siding in the city and county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have in vented a certain new and useful Improvement in Boiler Water-Glasses, of which the following is a true and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof.
My present invention relates to the construction of water glasses or water level indicators for steam boilers and the like, and has for its object to improve the operation of such glasses by the provision of a single simple and effective means for quickly and positively closing the connections between the two ends of the glass and the boiler when necessary, as on the breakage of the water glass barrel, and. to provide a simple effective transparent shield for the glass barrel so that on the breakage of the latter the brokenp'arts and escaping'steam and water will not ini ure the boiler attendant or other person at land.
The various features of novelty which characterize my invention are pointed out d articularity in .the claims annexed to an Fora better understanding of the invention, however, and the advantages possessed by it reference may be had to the accompanying drawin s and descriptive matter in which I have illustrated one of the forms in which my invention may be made.

The check valve G constantly tends to seat itself under the action of a spring G extending between the inner end of the fluted stenf G of the check valve G and a sleeve G screwed into the inner end of the valve casing. The fluid pressure back of the valve G also urges the valve toward its seat at all times.
