The inventionconsists of agrille which 1s arranged to be detachably secured to theframe of a. window-sash, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevational vlew of a. window sash with my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view taken through 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the sash to show a. fastening device employed in carrying" out the invention.
The reference numeral 5 designates the frame of a window sash of ordinary construction and, as illustrated, is glazed with a Fitted to the recesses 7 at opposite sides of the glass are companion grilles 8, which may be of any suitable design and are severally bounded by horizontal members 9 and 10 and vertical members 11. Extending downwardly from the lower member 9 are lugs 12 which engage holes 13 provided in the bottom rail 14 of the sash.
Socketed in sleeves 15 which are inserted in the respective holes 16 of the 17 are bolts 18 which are spaced from the opposite faces of said glass to allow the grille being introduced between the glass and the respective bolts. Provided in each of the sash holes 16 is a spring 19 which serve to urge-the respective bolts'outwardly and, that such movement of a bolt may be limited, I form the same with a head 20, see Fig. 3, of snflicient size to prevent its passing through the sleeve.
When a grille is to be removed the bolts 18 are pushed u wardly clear of the grille. The latter may t on be tilted forwardly and removed by raising to withdraw the lugs 12 from the holes 13. To replace a. grille the lugs are first inserted in their-holes and by the operator holding the bolts up with her top sash-rail fingers, the top of the grille is shoved back against the glass, whereupon the bolts are released to allow the affected springs asserting themselves to cause the bolts being restored to their former positions and thus.

Having described my invention, what I claim, isv p 1. The combination with a window'sash, provided with apertures in its lower rail and a spring pressed bolt protruding downwardly from the upper rail thereof and in spaced relation with the sash glass, of a grille adapted to fit against the glass of said sash and provided with lugs disposed to enter said apertures for securing the grille at the bottom with the sash and adapted to be secured at the top with the sash by being inserted between said glass and said bolt.
2. In combination. a window-sash frame, a pane of-glass in the franuga grille adapted to fit within the frame, and devices for de tachably connecting the grille to the frame and in juxtaposition with said pane of glass.
3. The combination with the frame of a window-sash and the glass thereof. of companion grilles arranged to be fitted within the sash from opposite sides and to be placed in juxtapositionwith said glass, and means to detachably and independently secure the grilles to the sash.
l. The combination of a glazed windowsash, a grille adapted to fit within the frame of said sash and in juxtaposition with the sash-glass, lugs provided upon said grille anddisposed toengage in apertures providod in the frame of said sash, a bolt-socket inserted in the sash-fran'ic, a bolt in said socket, and a spring serving to protrude said bolt from its socket whereby the. bolt will afford means for detachably securing said grille in operative position.
5. The combination with a window-sash having a glazed opening to afford a recess to one side of the sash-pane, of a rectangular shaped grille constructed to be inserted within said recess, and means connected with the sash-frame and coacting with said sash pane for removably securing the grille within the recess.
