Description
G. D. ADAMSON.
MACHINE FOB. SHARPENING AND HONING RAZORS.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 1, 1909.
Patented Oct. 18, 1910.
Inveufom.
rr eras GEORGE n. AJIJ'AMS'ON, or INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
MACHINE FOB, SHARPENING AND HONING RAZORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 18, 1910.
Application filed June 1, 1909. Serial No. 499,374.
To all whom it may concern!" 7 Be it known that I, GEORGE D. ADAMSON,
a citizen of Great Britain, residing in the city of Indianapolis, Marion count-y, in the State of Iiidiana, have invented a new and useful machine whereby sharpening and es-- both sides of-a given blade; second, to do it speedily; and third, to do it automatically. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
which Figure 1 is elevation of the entire machine as it would appear when operating on an ordinary razor. Fig. 2 isa part elevation in sectionat X X it would appear when operating on a thin or safety razor blade.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout these views.
A is handle upon which the entire machine is'built. It is apparent that it and holder C could be made in one piece, and for heavy work would be so made.
B is double ax e made of one piece looped at B passing through holes in holder 0 and rollers D d and being clenched in handle A form base for holder I C and bearings for rollers D'd.
C is holder set on axlesB and having lugs it into which razor or carrier F is placed, and set-screw i being screwed down on razor bearing rods mounted ing members.
or carrier F back holds blade edge to rollers D d. Pawl is on aforesaid holder engages cog-wheel Z thus preventing reverse" motion. D d are two elliptical hollow rollers each made of one piece m looped at D and riveted on to cog-wheel Z at d. Holes in center atD and (Z provide bearings onwhich aforesaid rollers D d revolve on axles B respectively.
liforesaid cog-wheels l being in gear so that 1 aforesaid rollers D d clear each other, it appears that the faces of'their longer axis can be made to alternately touch anything put between them.
E are removable sleeves made of material suitable to make-,and maintain a keen edge, and held in place by lacing o. This allows of readily renewing working faces of aforesaidrollers D d.
F is a carrier used to safety or special blades.
adapt holder C to G is a pinion wheel hung on handle A and being in gear with cog-Wheels Z motion made in direction allowed aforesaid rollers D d. I
Having thus set forth and explained my invention, Patent for A sharpening machine comprising a hendled frame,- parallel thereon, sharpening members journaled on said rods, an instrument support mounted on said rods and parallel therewith, a drive wheel journaled in said frame and operatively connected with drivingmeans borne by said sharpen- GEORGE D.
