To all whom itmay concern: I
Be it known that I, T nomas I'I. LAURENT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Nutley, in thecounty of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Concrete Post for Clothes- Lines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to pro-' vide a post for supporting clothes lines which will not rot when placed in the ground or become demolished by exposure to the climate; and to provide a post for the purpose set forth which is durable and economical in manufacture and installation.
One embodiment of the present invention is disclosed in the structure illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which likecharacters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in Which.
Figure 1 is a side view, partly in section, of a post constructed in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a cross section on an enlarged scale, of a cross tree of the extended bracket arm constructed in accordance with the present invention, and taken on the line 22 in Fig. 1; Fig, 3 is a fragmentary view in vertical section and on an enlarged scale, of the upper end of the post ilhistrated in Fig. 1 and taken on the line- 33 therein; Fig. 4, is a cross section of the post on an enlarged scale taken on the line 4-4 in Fig. 1, and Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the post having a single hook at the top thereof.
As a reinforcement, a metal pipe 5 is employed to prevent the fracture of the cement casing (3 forming thebody of the post. The pipe 5 is extended to nearthe top of the post. In the upper end of thepipe is 'insertcd the shank 7 of a hook 8'. The hook 8 has a horizontal extension of a length suflicient to project the hook end beyond the side of the completed post. With an arm 9 thusconstructed, it is obvious that corrosion will not/occur Within the interior of the said pipe. -The' outer surface is suitably painted or otherwisepro tected against corrosion by the elements.
