Description

J P. MALONE.
REVOLVING MEAT BLQOK.
APPLICATION FILED JULY 26,1909.
Samoa wow JAMES FRANKLIN MALONE, 01E LAWRENCE, ARKANSAS.
REVOLVING MEAT-BLGCK.
crease To all i'vhom at may concern:
Be it known that I, .la MES FRANKLIN Ma- L-oNn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lawrence, in the count of Garland and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful liiiproveiiieiits in Revolving Meat-Blocks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to revolving meat; blocks, revolving work-benches, typowriting stands, revolving tables and hookcases etc,
t is frequently found necessary to revolve the blocks upon which these articles rest and it is often found necessary to elevate or depress the same and it is my intention to meet these wants by this invention and especially is it often found in markets and stores where meats are kept on sale that one sideof a meat block becomes so worn that it not only looks disfigured but it hampers the butcher in the eiiiciency of his work in preparing the meat for customers. Therefore, 1 have invented a block which may be raised or lowered and revolved at will so that. one side thereof may be used as frequently as the other.
With these and other objects in view my invention consists of the novel construction and arrangementof parts as are fully described in this specification, illustrated in the accon'ipanying drawings forming a part thereot and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings the figure is a vertical,
sectional view of my invention.
is an annular flange. l2 which, has cut in its Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 25, 1&09.
Potential 2'3, idio Serial lilo. 509,42'4.
under face an annular groove 13 which corresponds to the annular groove 10. Said flange, rests upon said ball bearings 11, thus adapting the spindle (3 to revolve with very little friction.
Cut on the inner wall. of said tubingil, below the center thereof is an annular concave recess 13; working in said recess and being held in place by means of the spindle (3, coming into contact therewith are the ball bearings 14.
Cut in the lower end of the spindle 6, are a number of transverse notches 15, which ena pin ill, which is forced home by means of the coil or helical spring 17. \Vhen it is desired to disengage the. pin 16, the foot is pressed upon the outer end of the lever 19, the inner end of which is provided with a pin 19, which works in theslots 20, formed on the outer end of said pin 16.
The tubing 9 may be made of any desired metal while the base 7, may be made of any desired material adapted for the purpose. The tubing is hold securely in place by means of a set screw 21.
l ihen the block 1, is elevated to a desired height, it. then held against movement by means of a set screw 2 Although I have specifically described the COIIStlllCtlOli and arrangement of the several parts of my device yet i may claim the right to make such changes in the construction and form thereof, as do not de-' part from the spirit of my invention or fall within the. scope of the appended claim.
l /hat l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In a revolving meat block comprising a base having a circular vertically disposed hole, cut. therein, a trubing whose upper edge is provided with an annular concave groove fitted into said hole, temporary means, consisting of a set screw to preveutthe removal of said tubing from the base, a spindle pro vided with an annular flange extending into said tubing and mounted thereupon-for ro tation, ball bearings interposed between the flange of the spindle and the groove of the tubing, said-spindle being of solid construcand projecting upward a screw threaded evrsee idon and having formed integral therewith threaded portion of the spindle, Said means being a set screw.
In testimony whereol I afiix my sigma? are, in presence oftwo witnesses. JAMES FRANKLIN MALONE. 1V itnesses I A. G. SULLENBERGER, E. VJ. SCOTT.
1i) portion, a casting secured to a meat block which casting is provided with a screwthreaded hole therein, saidserew-threaded hole receiving the screw-threaded upper portion. of the spindle means to secure the casting at any point desired upon the screw-
