My invention relates to a mountin for fuses, and its object is to provide an eihcient and satisfactory mounting Which is of simple construction and which may be cheaply manufactured.
I will describe my invention and also the erence to the accompany-mg drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View of the molding apparatus showing a plurality of fuse mountings held, therein in the manner. in which t-lieyare assembled in their manufacture; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the structure shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a vertical scctional View on the line 3-8 of Fig, 1; and Fig. 4 is a longitudinal central section of the fuse mounting of my invention.

The fuse 1. is inclosed in a -tubular shell 2 of refractory insulating material, such as porcelain, which is provided with metallic caps or heads, 3, 3, molded about its ends. Each terminal of the fuse mounting consists of a threaded bolt 4: having a. longitudinal hole 5 therein to receive the end of the'fuse the bolt by being soldered or otherwise suitably secured within the hole 5. One end of the bolt 4 abuts against the tubular shell 2 about the opening therein, the hole 5 being in alinement with the opening through the the metallic cap 3. The projecting end of securing the mounting in position in the usual manner. Each cap 3 is made of a suitable alloy, which, after the bolt l is assembled in proper relation to the shell 2, is molded about the end of the shell, said shell being knurled or otherwise provided with lock to prevent said caps from coming oil. The fuse mounting of my invention is thus of simple construction, not liable to damage 1, 2 and 3. A horizontal block 8 is provi ed at intervals along its longitudinal center with depressions or cavities 9. At the center of each cavity is a vertically extending hole adapted to receive the bolts 4, which extend -therethrough and rest upon the stop It) which extends longitudinally beneath the block 8, the upper ends of said bolts extend ing above the bottoms of the cavities 9. The sleeves 2 rest upon the ends of the bolts 9. The upper ends of said sleeves are held by spring clips 11, mounted on a plate 12, which in turn may be mounted on standards c: tending from a clamping jaw 13. The two clamping jaws l3, lat, are pivotally mounted upon the block 8, and when said jaws are closed their edges meet upon a line through the center of said depressions or cavities 9. Each jaw 13, 1- is provided, immediately above the depressions 9, with semi-circular indentations of such dimensions that said jaws, when closed, clamp the shells and center them. upon the bolts Said jaws when closed form a top to the mold provided by the depressions 9. The jaw 1 is provided with funncl-shapcd depressions 15 for admitting the molten metal which is poured into the cavity to form the cap 3. The cavity E) is slightly tapered at the bottom to facilitate the withdrawal of the cap 3 from said cavity, and when the jaws are moved apart the fuse mounting may be readily removed.
I claim:
1. In a fuse mounting the combination with a tubular shell, a terminal bolt. at the end of said shell adjacent the opening therethrough, a fuse wire passing through said shell and having its end electrically connect-- in alinement with the opening through said shell, a fuse Wire passing through said shell about the end of said shell, a terminal bolt embedded in said cap, said bolt having a hole therein, and a fuse Wire passing through said shell and having its end so cured in the hole in said bolt.
4. In a fuse mounting the combination with a tubular shell, of a terminal bolt at the end of said shell adjacent the opening therethrough, said bolt having an opening into the opening in said bolt and connected to said bolt, and a molded metal cap upon the end of said shell securing said bolt thereto.
5. In a fuse mounting the combination with a tubular porcelain shell, of a fuse wire-passing through said shell, a terminal I bolt at the end of said shell to which said fuse Wire is connected, and a molded metal cap about the end of said shell, said bolt being embedded in said cap.
6. In a fuse mounting the combination with a tubular porcelain she'll, of a terminal bolt, a fuse Wire passing through said shell electrically connected to said terminal bolt, and a molded metal cap surrounding: the end of said shell and securing said bolt thereto.
