A driving and steering mechanism for boats, comprising a main power shaft located within the boat, a ropeller shaft cx tcrior of the boat, a )ropeller thereon, a vertically disposed sha t operated by the main power shaft, a horizontally arranged shaft operated by the vertical shaft and project ing beyond the boat, a vertically arranged Ashaft exterior of the boat andV operated by said horizontal shaft, a. gear connection hctwcen the last mentioned vertical shaft. and the propeller shaft., a housing inclosing the propeller shaft and propeller, a bracket for pivotally supporting said ,housing` and propeller to steer the boat.
