to be used for cookingor heating purposes. @ne of the objects of thismvention 1s to provide a simple inexpensive bui-'ner plate which is :ulapted to be connected to aegas4 pipe and to use the gas 4therefrom as the heating' medium.
A further object of the invention 1sv to provide a gas plate in which the number of burner .openings open at one time may be simply controlled in order to increase or diminish .the area of the flame.v y
A further object of this invention is to provide a gas plate in which the valve controlling the gas supply is also adapted'to control the number of burner openings in use soI that a proper supply of gas is provided for each adjustment of the area of' theburner in use. With the above and other objects in view the invention' consists of the gas plate and its parts and combinations', and all equivalents thereof. I

Referring to the drawing the numeral 8 indicates the top of a table or other support on Which is adapted to rest the gas plate 9 lwhich consists of an annular burner, platel0 provided with concentric recesses 1l 1n the upper surface thereof and a perforated top plate l2 connected thereto by screws 13'.
This perforated plate is formed of sheet metal embossed with concentric ribs or corrugations 14; which coincide with the concentric recesses of the burner plate. The portions l ofthe burnerplate on which rests 60 the depressed portions of the perforated top plate are slightly recessed to accommodate an asbestos packing 16 interposed between said burner plate and the perforated plate to form gas tight connections between the'65 concentric recesses 17 formed by said plates. The {perfor-ations 18 of the top plate are positioned in concentric lines medially in the top' of each rib so that each concentric recess is provided with a. line of burner perforations. l Y

With the center-of .the tubular valve permit the .handleto freely turned to open and adjust both valves. In the use of the gas plate, the controllind. valve isattached to a gas supply pipe and if it is desired toheat a small receptacle the valve-handle is 'turned to openv the valve and also'to turn the tubular valve `so that the4 gas Will' be suppliedv'only to thel inner The gas is no'W ignited and the small burner providedbythe inner recess is Well adapted to' serve its purpose Where but Aa small flame is desired.- The;` flame is adapted to bel adjusted by. opening or closing the valve more or less as may be desired to increase or 'diminish the flame.

The gas supply to the medial burner may also be adjusted to increase or diminish the fla-me in4 the samev manner as the inner burner.. If it is .now .desired to still further augment the flame` the valve handle is still further' 1 turned vto lopen the valve to full openingand' lto move the outer port of the tubular valve into register with the opening tothe outer concentric recess to supply gas totv the outer line ofburner openings the gasi from which Will be ignited by the liame'from themedial lportion of the burner thus providing a burner which may be increased or dimm-'- ished iny area to form heating units and also vproviding means whereby the supply of gas to each unit may be regulated bythe saine controlling valve handle.
From the foregoing descriptionjit lwill be seen that the gas plate is very simple in construction and is vvery economical in use and the burner may be adjusted to. provide the sized flame desired. 7
