WELL-CASING.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL HARDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at lValnut Springs, in the county of Bosque and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVell-Casings, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in well casings.
Its object is to provide a sectional well casing, the sections of which are adapted to fit securely one upon another, an annular seat being provided near the top of each section to receive the lower end of the section above it.
Vith this object in view, my invention has relation to certain novel features of the construction, an example of which is described in the following specification, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein Figure l is a view of the lower end of a section of the casing, and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the casing.
Referring now more particularly to the drawing, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in all the figures, the numeral 1 denotes a section of the well casing. The upper extremity of the section is reduced to the same diameter as the in terior of the casing, forming a neck 2. At the intersection of the neck 2 with the casing proper, an annular seat 3 is formed, which is adapted to receive the lower extremity of a section superimposed 011 the section shown. The upper edge of the section shown is beveled downwardly and inwardly as indicated at 4-. The purpose of this is to deflect the lower extremities of the pipes which are lowered after the casing is in position, so that there will be no obstruction offered to the pipes as they are let down into the well. The lower inner edge of the section is slightly beveled as shown at 5, so as to permit the lower end of one section to easily pass over the neck portion 2 of a section already in position in the well.
I do not limit myself to any particular material of which to construct the herein described well casing, as clay, cement, concrete, metal or other material may be used without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
What I claim is:
1. A sectional well casing having its upper extremity reduced to a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the casing, and having an annular shoulder between the reduced portion and the casing, the upper inner edge of the casing being beveled.
2. A sectional well casing having its upper extremity reduced to a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the casing, and having an annular shoulder between the reduced portion and the casing proper, which forms a seat for a similar section of casing, the upper and lower inner edges of the casing being beveled.
