To two of the vertical tubes 3, and on the opposite side from the scinicircular frame 20, is pivoted the tail piece 36, which tail piece is braced by a truss support 8' similar to the truss supports 8. A power driven shaft 522 is mounted in bearings on Said boat 19, and on each end oi said shaft is secured a beveled friction gear 23. Said shaft 522 also carries the driven pulley 24.

Ilaving thus described my invention I desire to secure by Lcttcrs Patent and claim;

3. An aeroplane comprising a covered frame, a covered plane secured to each end thereof a portion of Which may be bent, a'
frame secured on one side of said first named covered frame at an angle thereto, a movable tailpiece pivoted to the other side of said frame, means for moving said tailpiece up and down, a supporting truss carried by said first mentioned frame, rollers mounted on said truss, a shifting rack having a longitudinal channel in its underside and teeth on its upper side, a cord connected at each end thereof and to the outer end of the plane adjacent, a bearing frame, a shaft mounted therein, a gear and a pinion on said shaft, the teeth of the gear adapted to mesh with the teeth of said shifting rack, a rocking shaft secured to said covered frame transversely thereto, an upper arm on said rocking shaft formed as a'segment gear the teeth of which are adapted to engage with the pinion, depending arms on said rocking shaft and propelling means for the device carried by said arms.

An aeroplane comprising a covered frame, and planes attached thereto which may be Warped, a boat pivotally secured to said covered frame normally at right angles thereto, means-secured to the-boat to Warp said end planes Whenever the said covered frames assume a position other than at a right angle to said boat, a power driven shaft mounted in said boat, beveled friction gears one on each end of said shaft, propeller shafts mounted in hearings on the side of said boat, a beveled pinion on one end and propeller blades on the other end of each of said propeller shafts, said pinions being adapted to engage said first named bevel pinions, and clutches on said shafts adapted to move said shafts longitudinally.

An aeroplane comprising a COVQTQd vTO frame, a covered plane secured on each end thereof with resilient members therein, a supporting "truss carried by said frame, rollers mounted on said truss, a shifting rack having a longitudinal channel on its lower side and teeth on its upper side, cords conneeted at each end of the rack to the outer ends of the said covered planes, a bearing frame also secured on said truss, a shaft mounted in said bearing frame, a gear and a pinion on said shaft, the teeth. of the gear adapted to mesh with the teeth of said shifting rack, a rocking shaft secured to said covered frame transversely thereto, a segment gear secured on the upper part of sald rocking shaft, the teeth of said segmentgear adapted to engage the said pinion, depending arms on said rocking shaft, a boat secured to the said arms, spring stays secured to the upper side of said boat and to the lower side of said, covered frame, a movable tailpiece pivoted to said frame and means for adjusting said tailpiece.
