This invention relates to certain improvements in cash boxesfand moreparticularly to that variety. of such .devices which are especially designed and adapted to contain coins for the payment of wages, and the object ofthe invention is to provide a cash box of this general character of a simple and comparatively inexpensive nature; and of a compact construction having sealing or looking means of a novel and. im roved character whereby unauthorized .openlng ofthe box or tampering with its contents is 4 effectively prevented.

The following device is arranged for looking the cash-box: In the bottom of the box a there are two hollows 9 into each of which i a hoop or strap h of the lid 6 enters when the lid is closed. The manner in which-the cash-box, provided with the look as described and claimed is worked is as follows: The cashier places the separate coins into the corresponding cavities (Z of the open cash-box and puts the note of wages w over the hinged flap 2. combination with a slidable bolt engageable with said strap and said hook when the box is closed, detent means in said box, and a pawl on said bolt adapted to engage said detent means when the bolt is in locked position, whereby said bolt cannot be with drawn before said detent means are moved out of-engagement with said pawl.

Ina cash-box of the type described, a box having alplurality of cavities in its botand detent means on said lid, in combination with a sliding-bolt havin a handle anda plurality of bolts adapte to slide in said box and engage said detent means and said hoops when the box is closed, a flap having detent means hinged on the bottom of said box, a spring in said box, and pawls on said bolts adapted to be pressed by said spring and engugeable with said latter detent means i when the slidingboltis in locked position,

the arrangement being such that said slid ing-bolt cannot be withdrawnbefore said flap with its detent means is disengaged closed adjustment a releasable securing de-- lvice within said chamber for holding the lid in closed relation to the body portion, and a seal applied over the last-named aperture and preventing access to the chamber wherein the securing'device is arranged;

A device of the character described I having two members, one of which is a'body portion adapted to receive coins, and the other of which is a lid adapted to be extended'across the body portion to prevent the removal of the coins therefrom, one of said members having apertures whereat the coins in said body portion are visible when the-lid isin closed adjustment, releasable securing means for holding the lid in closed adjustment, one of said members having an aperas my invention and desire ture afiording access to said securing means, and a seal adapted to be extended across said last-named aperture to prevent unauthorized access to said securing means.

A device of the character described having two members, one of which is a body portion adapted to receive coins, and the other of which is a lid adapted to'be extended across the body portion to prevent the removal of coins therefrom, one of said members having apertures whereat the coins in said body portion are visible when the lid is in closed adjustment, a releasable detent, a bolt carried by one member and engageable with the other member to hold said members in closed adjustment, and a part carried by.

the bolt and-engageable with saidreleasable detent to hold the'bolt against movement whenthe members are, in closed adjustment.

.6. A device of the character described having two members, one of which is a-body portion provided with a plurality of chainbers adapted to receive coins, and the other of. which is a lid adapted to be extended across the coin-receiving chambers to pre vent the removal of coinstherefrom, and

provided with apertures in registry with the com-receiving chambers of the body portion when the lid is in closed. adjustment, releasable securing means for holding the-lid-in I closed adjustment, oneof said members having an aperture aiiording access to said securing means, and a seal ad'aptedto be extended across said last-named aperture to prevent unauthorized access to said securing means. A device of the character described havingtwo members, one of which 'is a body portion adapted to receive coins, and theother of which is a lid adapted to be extended across the body portion to v'prevent the removal of coinstherefrom, one of said members having apertures whereatthe coins insaid body portion are visible when the lid is in closed adjustment, a releasable detent inclosed within the device, a bolt carried by one member and engageable with the other member to hold sai members in closed adjustment, a part carried-by said bolt and engageable with the releasable detent to hold the bolt against movement when the members are in closed adjustment; one of said members havingan aperture afi'ording access to said detent, and a seal adapted to be extended across said last--named aperture to prevent unauthorized access to said detent.
