To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. CRUM- RINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kanopolis, in the county of Ellsworth and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cook-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in cooking stoves, the object being to provide a stove with doors communicating with the space between the oven and stove pro er whereby the cleaning of the soot from t e same is greatly facilitated.

A further object of the invention is to so arrange the doors in respect to the oven that the soot which accumulates around the same can be readily removed thereby overcoming the diificulties now existing with having to have a peculiarly constructed cleaner in order to thoroughly clean the stove.

A further object of the invention is to provide the bottom of the stove with an opening which is closed by a hinged door secured in place by a turn-knob, said door when dropped into a lowered position forms a chute for the soot so that the same can be readily caught in a suitable vessel.

A still further object of the invention is to provide the back of the stove with a hinged door whereby a person can readily insert the arm through the same so as to remove the soot from around the oven.

With these objects in view, my invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangment of parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which,

In carrying out my improved invention, I employ a stove A which is substantially the same construction as an ordinary stove now in use and is provided with the ordinary oven B which is spaced from the body of the stove in the ordinary manner to form a flue so that the heat from the fire chamber of the stove can circulate around the same in order that the oven may be thoroughly heated, the above description being given so that the use of my improved doors in connection with the stove can be readily understood.

' An opening 1s formed in the bottom of the stove under the oven substantially the same size as the bottom which may be of any shape desired but it is preferably formed rectangular so as to allow free access to the interior of the stove, said opening being closed by a hinged door 0 which is locks in a closed position by a turn-knob D so that a perfect air tight joint will be formed and at the same time all danger of the door dropping down accidentally is prevented. It Wlll be seen that by this arrangement the soot which accumulates on the bottom of the stove will be removed when the door is opened and by inserting a brush of any kind into the same the soot which has accumulated around the edge of the opening and sides of the oven can be removed easily and quickly.

To facilitate the removing of soot from the stove I provide the back of the same with a hinged door E which is also locked by a turn knob F and it will be seen that when the two doors are thrown into an opened position openings are formed through which the arm can be readily inserted in either of the openings. By providing an opening at the rear of the stove the walls of the oven and stove can be thoroughly cleaned and it will be seen that as the soot is brushed from the same it will drop into the bottom of the stove and the greater portion of the same passes out through the opening onto the door C where it can be readily removed. It will be seen that by this arrangement I am able to keep the stove thoroughly clean with a very little trouble so as to overcome the disadvantages now existing with stoves in having to use an instrument for cleaning the same which is operated from the front.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a stove with door openings closed by doors which are so arranged in respect to the oven that the space between the oven and stove proper can be easily and quickly cleaned with a brush.
