Be it known thatI, Gnoncn ADAM KAI-IL,
-'a citizen of the United States, residing at Plainsberg, in the county of Merce'd and State of California, have invented new and useful Building-Blocks; and I do. hereby declare-the followin to be .a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to buildin blocks,
provide means for constructing a building which canbe securely built, and which will be capable of withstanding earthquake shocks without being demolished.
With these and other objects in view, the invention eonsistsin the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and shown and particularly pointed out in the appended claims. I

Referring to the drawings, 1 and 2 designate the two'styles of blocks embodied in my invention. The block 1 is provided with a groove-3 on the under side'and a rib 4 on the upper face thereof, each of which ex-" tends the entire length of the block.
The block 2 is provided with a transverse rib 6', which extends across the end thereof, and-a'longitudinal rib 7, which extends one half the length of said block; Between the innerlend of the rib 7 and the transverse rib -6 is a s ace equal toone= half the width of the blot: r. Having thus described my invention, what is claimed is:

In a structure composed of a series of-" building blocks, disposed in break joint order, :1 block having on one side a centrally disposedlongitudinal-rib. and on its other Side a centrally disposed longitudinal groove, the rib and groove extending the en tire length of the block and Ya second block having on one side adjacent to one end a transverse rib, and on the same side a centrally disposed longitudinal rib that terininatcs short ofthe'transversc rib a distance equal to one half the width of the first block, the second block being provided on the side opposite that carrying the transverse rib with a transverse groove arranged directly opposite the transverse rib, and a centrally disposed longitudinal groove opposite the centrally disposed longitudinal ribthat terminates short of the transverse groove.
2. A building block having on one side adjacent to one end a transverse rib, and on the same side a=centrally disposed longitudinal rib that terminates short of thetransve-r'se rib a distance equal to one half the width of said bloek, said block being prm vid ed with grooves on its opposite face, corresponding to each of said ribs.
