Be it known that l, JoirN MAiioLD, a citiresiding atMadison, in the county'of Madison and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful lm-l novements in Car-Roofs, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to improvements in car roofs and has'for itsyobject the provision of a device dt that kind comprising a philrality of metalisheets so constructed that they will not be displaced or sprung by the vibration of the car tov which they are applied. y
Another object is the provision of a locking member for securing the sheets-'together whereby the usual method of employing bbards andpnails to secure the sheets to the .car will be dispensed with.
With these and other objectsin view as will more fully 'hereinaftef' appear, the present invention consists in certain novel details of construction, andarrangement of parts hereinafter to be'moreI fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the apclaiins; it being understood that various changes in the form, roportion, size and minor 'details of the device may be made, within the scope of the appended claimstwithout departing from thespirit or sacrificing-any ot the ladvantagesof the present invention. Having thus described the invention, what 'is claimed is- 1. A car roof comprising a plurality of sheets having their outer ends secured to the eaves and their inner ends upturned and arranged adjacent to the ridge, each of said sheets having similarly rebent'side margins,V
and a locking strip having dside margins bent over one of its faces to receive the bent ,portions of the sheets, and a cap Aplate secured to the` ridge and extending'thr'oughout the length ofthe roof and having downwardly bent side portions to bear onv the said locking strips at points adjacent to the upturned inner ends of the sheets.
