Specification of Letters Patent.
My invention relates toimprovements in hods; the object of the invention to improve the construction of hods increasing the strength and durability and to render them capable of being made economically.
The invention consists in the construction and the novel combination and arrangement of the parts and the manner of reinforcing); a hod and constructing it as a wholt; allot which will be hereinafter fully set forth and claimed. Y

The construction of the fork in which the hod body is supported on the handle is as follows: 7, 7', represent. two arms extending from the ferrule 8, the lerrule being made with a recess for the reception of the handle J, see Fig. ll. ' lhcse arms 7, 7, are preferably constructed as part of the ferrule 8, and having reinforcing fillets 9 t) at the point of connection with said ferrule. All the upper ends of the arms 7, 7', they are oll'sct as shown at a, a, causing the upper ends to (.lTil'HilCO the reinforcing element at the side of the body oi the hod, thus strengthening the structure as a whole.

By. a construction niade in accordance with this invention, it will be seen that I havv constructed a symmetrical, convenient cheap and strong hod, and one which will not buckle but will retain its shape indefinitely; and in setting the same forth in the drawings and specifications, I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of the construction, as they may be varied without departing from the invention.
