To all whom 'it may concern.' Be i .known that I, OTTO WANDEL, of Walpole, in thecounty ofNorfolk and l. State ofi Massachusetts, have invented certain I.new 4and useful Improvements in Paper- Pulp Screens, of which the following/is a speel cation, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
This invention has reference to improve- ;ments in machines for screening or strain- -ing fibrous material, usually delivered to the machine as ulp, and any similar material from which 1t is desired to remove im urities and, comparatively, 'large pieces o the material.
The object of the invention is toso construct a machine of this nature, provided with rotating screens, that said-screens may be positively driven in opposite directlons land positively lvibrated with reference tothe directions of rotation.
Another object of the inventionis to so construct a machine of this nature, having two'rotatable screens and means for rotating said screens in opposite directions that the finer and more useful material, .delivered lfrom said screens may fiow lntodllerent receptacles.
Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description.

As shown in the .drawings the main frame 5 of the machine sup lorts the vat 6, concave in cross section and aving the outlets 7, 7 located at its outer edges, and the centrally located outlet pipe 8. Pivotally mounted at both ends of the machine are pairs of rocker arms as 9, 9 having the buffer members 10, 10 with the buffer member 11 of the mainame to limit the swing of said rocker arms 9, 9n one direction, while the 'y opposite the sleeves 25, 26 of the lower ends of said rocker arms are furnished Wlth. cam faced blocks l12, 12 slidable on said arms and adapted to be secured in the'adI ]usted position by the bolts 13, 13'.

In bearings, at. the upper ends of the rocker arms 9, 9 are rotatably mounted the sleeves 25, 26 of .the cylindrical screens 27, 28. These screensha-ve slots formed in their walls, in any manner, therethrough of the liner furnished with longitudine ly extending Gear 15 engages gear 17` to permit the passage ulp and are strengthening rods 29., 30- secured v'to the screens. Rotation of said screens, in opp ositev directions, is effected by means of the annular i gears 31, 32 mounted on the sleeves 25, 26, o said screens, and engaged with the worms 23, 24.

The upper ends of said frame members `33, 34 extend above the screens 27, 28 and to these ends are secured the su porting members 39, 40 offthe perforated pipes 41, 42 which are adapted to Ydeliver water to the upper surfaces of the respectivescreens 27, 28, and are provided with hoods 43, 44. 'Within said screens 27 28 are located the waste receiving trays 45, 46, positioned above the ulp supply conduits 37, 38 and adapte` -to receive the waste material and dirt washed from the screens 27 28 as such material is carried beneath the jets of water ing downward f rom the plpes 41, 42. e coarse material, carried around within the screens also beingthus lwashed into said trays 45, 46 and passdioated by arrows in vibration of said arms, the inward movetative movement in o 'ment of which is limited by the coperating buffer members 10 and 11, -so that the screens 27, 28, supported on said rocker arms, are constantly vibrated during their said roposit/e directions. The coarser material, which cannot pass through the slots in screens 27, 28, and a large propor tion ofthe scum and dirt contained within the screens settles or is collected, between the bars 29, 29 and is carried upward, by the rotation of the screens, until' it is brought beneath the jets of water from pipes 41, 42 and is then washed from the screens into the tra s 45, 46 and asses out of the machine.
