' Be it known that I, MARION TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Solidan', in the" county of Mecklenburg and State of Virginia, have invented certain new .and useful Improvements in Gun-Locksg and I do declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it apperlains to make and use the same.
Phis invention relates to improvements in gun locks. i I
The object of the invention is to provide a gun loclthaving an improved construction of self cocking firing mechanism comprisin g a rotary trigger adapted to bea'opeatedl)" operated and having means to successively engageand oporatedhe hammer or hammers of the gun.
A further object is to. provide a safety mechanism to prevent the casual operation of the trigger and accidental discharge of the gun.
\Vith the foregoing and other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanyingdrawing, wherein the invention is shown as applied to a doublebarrel shot-gum 1- denotcsthc gun stock, 2 denotes the lock chamber and 3 denotes the breech of the gun. Suitably arranged and secured at one end in the lock chamber are liam neroperating anism, will be projected into forcible ell-- gagement with the firing pins to cause the latter to explode the cartridges in the gun.
Revolubly mounted on a pivot pin or bolt 10 in the lock chamber 2 is a rotary trigger 11 comprising a plurality of radially jecting slightly curved finger engaging ugs or trigger-s12 which project through a suitable slot or aperture in the bottom of the lock casing and are protected bya suitable guard 13 arranged on the lower side ofv the lock chamber, as shown. l ixedlyjmounted on 'the opposite sides of the rotary trigger 1-1 are star wheels 14, said .wheels being preferablyintegral with'the trigger. The radially projecting points of the star wheel on one side of the trigger, are disposed in a plane midway between the points of the wheel on the opposite side of the trigger whereby when the trigger is revolved, the points of the opposite starwhcels Will en'- gage the trip lugs 7 of first one hammer and then the other so that the barrels of the gun will be alternately fired.
In order to prevent a retrograde movement of the trigger, I-provide a s ring pawl 15 having in its upper end a note 1 16 which is arranged in position to engage the point of each trigger orfinger lug 12, as it passes the pawl in its upward -movement thereby preventing a reverse movement of the trig.- ger; In addition -to the pawl 15,1 preferably provide a'safet-y device whereby the trigger may be held or locked against movement, said safety device comprising a stop plate 17 which is slidably mounted on the underside of the upper plate of-the lockout of, the path ofmovement of the trigger or finger lugs 12- whereby, when the late is in'operative'position, the trig er wil be held against rotation in a forwarc direction, said trigger being also held against'move ment in a reverse direction by the pawl 15, as hereinbefore described.

In a firing mechanism for guns, a lock chamber, hammers operatively mounted and concealed in said chamber, arotary trigger, means'hn said trigger to successively engage and trip first one and then the other of said hammers, means to hold said trig er against retrograde movement, a safety evice, said device comprising a plate slidably mounted operatively connected to said plate whereby the same is shifted into and out of the path of movement of said trigger.
