Be it known that l, Fnnniran A. CALLEY, a citizen o-t the United States, and resident ot Franklin, in the county ot liteirimack and State ot New Hampshire, have invented an ln'iprovement in Apparatus tor Enki; 'f

Beans, ot which the following dcscriptioi, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like numerals on the drawings representing like parts.

My present invention is an improvement on my patented apparatus 909,988, January 19, 1909, and relates particularly to the provision :tor maintaining a tree circulation of steam, and to this end l provide a rest, preferably triangular, etween the bottoms ot the outer and inner receptacles, pei-tora-ted to permit tree passage ot' steam and yet maintain the two receptacles or pots properly positioned, and l support the water tank in the cover in such a manner that it may readily be taken oli' for sanitary purposes, being supported by the testing tube, which is tightly but removably secured in the cover, so as to constitute a combined testing tube and removable clamping stud, the water being poured through the hollow testing tube the saine as in my patent.

In the drawings, in which l have shown a preferred embodiment ot the invention, Figure 1 is a central, vertical sectional view thereof; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view on the line 2-2, Fig. 1.

The outer can or receptacle 1, the inner can or pot 2, cover 3, and water tank il may be and preferably are substantially the same as in my patent aforesaid. Secured to the center ot the water tank 4t is an upwardly projecting stud 5 shouldered at (5 to llt against the adjacent top 'l et the cover 3, which is apertured at S to tit removably over a central extension or boss 9 of the stud 5, any suitable cooperating clamping means being provided tor securing said stud tightly in said cover, as for instance a winged nut 10 is herein shown as threaded at 11 on the projecting portion 9 so as to clamp the cover tightly against the shoulder 6 of the stud. rlhe stud is tubular, being provided with a central longitudinal opening 12 spreading adjacent its lower end to form outlets 13 near the bottom of the tank l to constitute a testing tube substantially the same as shown in my patent aforesaid. By reason ot this construction the water tank is lilled from the outside by pouring water through the testing tube, and notice is given automaticallyv when the water runs nearly dry in the tank by the escape ot steam through the test tube, as explained in my patent, and yetl the tank is suspended reinovalily so that it may readily be cleaned, and the suspending means and the test tube are combined in the single stud While l have itound the threaded nut to be a convenient means ot cooperating with the sind to hold the tank and cover together, any other convenient clamping means may be substituted.

Between the bottom ot the inner can and the ont-er can l. interpose a triangular band 1-1 for supporting the innercan at exactlyv the right height in stable position, said band or support l-ilhaving openings 15 therethrough to permit a unitorm and :tree circulation ot steam. l he manner oit using my bean pot is obvious: The inner receptacle 2 being packed with the pork and parboiled beans, etc., the operator pours through the test tube the required amount ot water into the tank i, and when this is converted into steam, the latter' escapes from between the tank l and cover 3 and maintains the beans and pork in the desired steam-enveloped. condition, the continuous high temperature quickly superlieating this acket ot steam so that the moisture therefrom permeates the mass ot beans until they are thoroughly and ctnnpletely baked. lo water put into the beans, and therefore they have a superior inellowness and delicacy. 'lhe time vwhen the baking ot the beans is finished is determined by testing the height ot the 'water in the tank by means, tor instance, o't a. stick run down the test tube. ritter the beans are baked the tank is quickly removed from the cover 'for the purpose ot cleaning or the like simply by disconnecting the stud trom the cover, by unscrewing the nut l() therefrom. By having the removable bottom support l-l, the two receptacles Yl and 2 are permitted to have perfectly smooth bottoms, advantageous 'for cleaning, and also uniform circulation and proper level oit the inner pot are readily maintained by this means.
