citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county ofNew' York and State of New York, have invented certain new. and useful Improvements in Coin-Controlled Mechanism for Vending-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in coin controlled mechanism for vending machines and like apparatus.
In the following is described in connection with the accompanying drawings one embodiment of the invention the features thereof being more particularly pointed out here iuafter in the claims.
In the drawings,l+igure 1 is a rear elevation of the apparatus in its normal position illustrating in connection therewith the manner in which the operative parts are connected thereto for actuating a carton feedin and discharging means; and Fi 2 is a side elevation of parts being shown in vertical section View of the coin controlled actuating means illustrating particularly the manner in which a coin controls the operative parts thereof for actuating a carton feeding and discharging means.

Drum 15 has formed therewith a shaft 18 carrying head 19 which in turn has 'mounted thereon hand lever 20 for manually opposite slots 24. and 25 in diagonalalinement with coin chute 26, slots 25 being cut in said core to a predetermined depth to allow the coin when inserted therein to project beyond the outer periphery of said sleeve 2.

Supporting arm 29 is controlled by means of spring 32 on stud 32 mounted on said auxiliary structure 1. I
The operation of the apparatus is as follows: A coin of a predetermined denom'ina tional value is passed from coin chute 26 into coin barrel, said coin projecting beyond the outer periphery of saldbarrel and the position thereof controlled by means of rack ward direction which connects with suitable mechanism for feedlng a carriage upwardly 1n the carton magazine.
The structure as herein shown and de-' scribed may be varied in many ways without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a coin controlled actuating means including a main shaft, a core mounted on said shaft having formed therein a groove, a, sleeve mounted on said core provided with a slot diametrically opposite to said groove in said core, a coin chute adjacent to said diametrically opposite groove and slot, an arm adjacent to said sleeve, a circular rack .mounted in said arm and adapted to engage a coin in said slot and groove during the rotation of said core and sleeve, and means mounted on said shaft and core adapted to engage means for actuating a carton feeding and discharging means.

A device of the character described including a coin controlled actuating means comprising a main shaft, a core mounted onsaid shaft, a sleeve mounted on said core,- a diametrically opposite slot and groove formed in said core and sleeve adapted to receive a coin, a coin chute in alinement with said diametrically opposite slotsadapted to convey said coin into said slots, an arm associated with said sleeve, a circular rack mounted in said arm provided with means adapted to engage said coin in the rotation of said core and sleeve, means; for holding said rack. in contact with said coin in the otation of said core and sleeve, means for manually actuating said core and sleeve, and means for returning said core and sleeve to their normal positions after the discharge of the coin therefrom.
