To all 'whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Riemann A. Nrrozrln, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screens, of which the following is a speciication.

My invention relates to improvements in screens and more particularly to screens for doors or windows having metallic frames, the object of the invention being to provide screens of simple and durable construction which may be produced at a minimum of expense.

A further object of my invention is to provide means whereby old screen netting may be readily removed from the screen frame and new netting secured in its place.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

I'Vith these objects in View my invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

My invention will be more readily vLinderstood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a door screen embodying my improved construction, Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a window screen, Fig. 3 is a detail perspective View showing a portion of a metallic window strip on which the window screen may slide, Fig. 4 is a. transverse section of said window strip and the frame of the window screen, and Fig. 5 is a view showing a piece of metal molding for securing the screen netting to the frame of the window or door screen.

Referring now to the drawings, 1 designates a door screen and 2 a window screen, each of which embodies my improved construction. The frame 3 of the window screen 2 is formed of sheet metal as shown in Fig. 4, a groove 4 being provided to receive a tongue 5 of the sheet metal guide strip 6, the latter being formed as shown and adapted to be secured to a window casing by means of the screws 7 which pass through holes provided therefor in said strip. Ordinary seams 8 are provided to secure the edges of the frame 3 and the strip 6, this construction, although not shown, being similar in the door screen 1.

the frames of the window and door screens, beads 10 are formed therein, the construction in this respect being identical in the window as in the door screen, although it is not shown in the latter. rlhe beads l() are provided with a'plurality of perforations and inside of these perforations nuts 11 are soldered, so that screws 12 may be screwed into said nuts from the outside of the frame. Nuts 13 shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 are also secured in the door screen to receive screws for attaching hinges and a door knob. To secure the screen netting on the frame of the window or door screen, the same is placed in proper position, then the screws 12 provided with screw-driver slots are screwed into the nuts 11 after the moldings 14 are placed over the screen netting, sald screws passing through perforations 15 provided in said moldings which register with the perforations in said beads. This construction is very neat, and the screen netting may be readily renewed at any time.

Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not restrict myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a device of the class described, a f lame formed of side sections each consisting of a single sheet of metal bent into substantially rectangular form with the edges seamed together, there being a longitudinal groove formed in the outer side of each of said sections and each of said sections also having a screen netting securing bead projecting from the face thereof, end sections each consisting of a single sheet bent into substantially rectangular form with the edges seamed together, there being a screen netting securing bead formed in the face thereof, moldings adapted to lit on said beads, and means for securino said moldings to said beads, substantially as described.

2. In a device of the class described, a frame formed of side sections each consisting of a single sheet of metal bent into substantially rectangular form with the edges seamed together, there being a longitudinal groove formed in the outer side of eaoh of rectangular form with the edges seamed tosaid sections and eaohvof said sections also having a screen netting securing bead projecting from the face thereof, end sections each consisting of a single sheet bent into substantially rectangular form with the edges seamed together, there being a screen netting securing bead formed in the face thereof, moldings adapted to it on said beads, ineans for securing said moldings to said beads and guide strips each consisting of a single sheet bent into a substantially gether, there being a longitudinal tongue formed in one faceV thereof adapted to enter said grooves in said frame sections, substantially as described.
