Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom. it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL E. HERmIAXN, a SHbJECt of the German Emperor. residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Processes of Hair-\Vaving, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention which is a division of my copending application, Serial No. 503,905, filed June 23, 190%), pertains to a process of hair waving whereby the waves 'an be made so as to stay for a greater length of time than those produced by the hitherto used methods. Practically the waves will keep in shape until the hair is grown so much that it requires a new waving.
.dy process consists in that a tuft of the hair is first curled, then sprinkled with a solution of sodium bi-borate, borax powder and water. In addition to this solution it may be advantageous in some cases to use a few drops of acetic acid. \Vhen the curled tuft is thus wetted it is covered with a. suit-able fire proof material and then heated. The same process is carried out with another tuft until all the waving is completed, whereupon the hair can he sliainpooed.
\Vhat I claim and desire to secure l) Letters Patent is:
1. A process of waving hair, consisting in first curling the hair. then sprinkling it with a chemical solution. then covering it with a fire proof material and finally heating it.
2. A process of waving hair, consisting in first curling the hair. then sprinkling it with a solution of sodium hi-horate, horax powder and water, then covering it with fire proof material and finally heating it.
3. A process of waving hair consisting in first curling the hair. then sprinkling it with a solution of sodium hi-horate. liorax powder. water and aceti' acid, then covering it with fire proof material and finally heating it.
