IMPROVED MEDICAL COMPOUND.
The Schedifle referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

Be it known that I, (l. L. HAMMOND, of Java, in the county of Wyoming, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Medicine; and do hereby'declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention consists in a medicine calledthe Fiery Dragon, as an internal and external remedy for man and beast. p
It is composed of the following ingredients, and
i To one pintot' linseed-oil add one pint of spirits of turpentine and two ounces of laudauum. Put in an open vessel in the open air, theuadd two ounces of oil of vitriol, and stir until cool, when it is ready for bottling and use. a
This compound is intended for the cure of the fol.- lowing diseases:
. Sore throat, diphtheria, swelled neck, rheumatism, neuralgia, piles, sore nipples, a-gue in the breast, burns and wounds, chapped hands, sore lips, salt rheum, warts, corns, and all lameness and eruptive bruises and sores that man and beast is heir to. i
As an internal remedy for man, in the-following diseases:
Bilious cliolic, inflammation in the bowels,'inflammation of the kidneys and lungs, general debility, 850-.
As an internal remedy for horses and cattle: Inflannnation of the kidneys, bowels, and lungs, and all sickness that animals are subjectto.
As an external remedy for beasts: For sore neck or pipe, caused. by the collar on the top ofthe neck, galls, poll-evil, kicks, strains, or bruises,
scratches, and all hurts and injuries that horses are Subject to.
Also all injuries to cattle, such as warts, foot-rot in sheep, scab, 860.
Directions for using for man internally:
For sudden attacks, such as liilious cholie, choleramorbus, &c., take from fifteen to twenty drops, once infour hours. Forinflaunnation of thebowels, lungs, kidneys, and general debility, take from ten to fifteen drops every six hours; in. all the above cases to be dropped on sugar.
For diphtheria, swab the throat as often as necessary, v a and take from four to ten drops, according to the age I of the patient, every six hours.
As an external application:
For running sore, wash well with saleratus-water before using the medicine, then inject with a syringe.
For rheumatism, sprains, bruises, swellings, saltrheum, shingles, sore breasts and nipples, Warts, sore lips, all bruises and eruptions, apply moderately with the fingers, three times a day until cured.
As an internal remedy for horses and cattle:'
For all cases of inflammation or sudden attacks, give four ounces of the compound inhalf a pint of linseed-oil, every six hours until relieved. If a horse has diphtheria, give an ounce at a time, in a bran mash, and rub well on the glands externally.
' As an external remedy for horses and cattle:
For all deep or running sores, like thistleto, pollevil, pipe, formed on the neck by the collar, first inject a solution of saleratus-water', then inject the medicine freely-three times a day. In case of a bruise or hurt causing the swelling of the limb or other part, especially of a leg, let the part be opened in several places, and the saleratus-water and medicine be injected freely three times a day, and almost immediate relief will follow.
