To all whom it 'may concern:
lle it lrnown that l, RnorNALoAL Friesen ons, residing-gl at lllrashington, in the Dis trict-. of lflollnnbia, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new andn'se lul lm rovenients in Wireless Telegraphy, ol" Wliici the following is a specilication.
The invention described in this case, which is a division of application Serial No. 167242, tiled Julyl 27, 1903, relates to the tuning et antennae by. altering the capacity of the antennae. l
lt also relates to tuning by connecting one or more members of a multiple antenna in electro-static inductive relation.
lt further relates to the utilization of one orinore members of a multiple antenna tor sending or receiving and altering an elecf trical characteristic of the sending or re- 'ceiving members by one or more ot the other' members of the antenna.
The invention is hereinafter more inlljy described and claimed in the accompanying drawing; forming part oli this specication.
Figures and 2 show means for tuning the antenna whether used for sending; or'
receiving.
.ln Fig.' l, a method is shown of tuning the antennae by changing the capacity of the antennae, 2, 3, Il, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 1t), 1L l2 is a device whereby .more or less of the antennae can .be connected. at will, and 13 is a coil which ,may forni either the primary ol the transformer' in which a receiver is placed,
When it is desired to receive, or the second' ary of a transformer Whose primary is in, a circuit for producing oscillations when `it is desired to send 'y l Fig. 2, shows means for an alternative methodior accomplishing the saine results, Where 14, l5 and 16 are antennae, any one of 'which may be switched in las desired by the switch 17 passingl over the contacts 18, 19 or 2G and being connected by the sy/itelil so as to send or receive at Will, while 22,23 and 2li are 4wires which may be connected tditlie ground at Will by the switch making contact with one or more ot the contacts 25, 26, 27.

`llhile I have' described with "some particularity a form of apparatus for the practice oi my improved method, no claim herein made to such apparatus, as the saine formsthe subjectmatter of another applica-- tion VSerial No. 29l,'l'36.
l claim herein as my invention tuning .an antenna by Vfnyiirgr the electrostatic inductive relation between said an till 1. In Wireless signaling, the method ot tenna and another conductor, substantially as described.
2. l'n Wirelesssignalinlir, the method ot toning an antenna which consists in pro 'vidinaf several aerials ol variable capacity and e tering the inductiverelation between them 'to attain resonance in one ot tlieln, sub-- stantially as'descrilied.
il'. ln wireless signaling, the method oi toning,r an antenna by providing a series of aerial conductors, connrxzting,- a portion of them `to the ground and coupling the ,grounded conductors in electrostatic induct- We relation to the ungrounded conductors.
4t. lin wireless signaling, the irtethod olf tuning an antenna which consists in providing' multiple serials and altering the capac ity by connecting one oi tliein in electrostatic inductive relation with others ol`tlic serials.
` ai ln Wireless sigzgnaling the method et toning an antennacircnit' by' providing" inaltiple serials and changing the electrical characteristics ot one oit" them` by the inluence of' the others, substantially as de lill
