POCKET-STRIP FOR USE IN VENDING-MA CHINES.

i To all whom it may concern! Be it known that we, SARA-L. W. Con and HENRIETTA 'WERDEN, of New York, in the county of New York'and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in' Pocket-Strips for Use in Vending-Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to means for carrying and discharging goods for use with vending or delivery apparatus, and more particularly to means for carrying and delivering such small articles '"as postage stamps,

,the object of the invention beingto provide aconnected series of pockets to contain postage stamps andadapted to be operated by means of suitable feeding mechanism which may comprise a roller over which the connected series of pockets pass, and to so construct said series of pockets that they will be accurately fed and to construct each pocket in such manner that the stamps can be readily placed therein and easily removed therefrom.

Vith this object in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims. f l r x In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view showing the relation of our pocket strip to a feed wheel of a vending machine, and Figs. 2 and 3 are detail views showing the construction of the pockets and the manner of holding stamps therein.

1 represents a strip of connected pockets, said strip being notched at its respective edges and at the points of juncture,of the pockets for the reception of lugs 2 on a feed wheel 3. The pairs of lugs 2 are located a distance apart on the periphery of the feed wheel exactly equal to the length of a pocket 4 so that the notches 5 at the intersection of said pockets will accurately receive said lugs and the pocket strip be caused to be fed forwardly a suflicient,distance to project one pocket from the machine at each impulse of the feed wheel,-'-the pocket strip and feed wheel thus operating somewhat after the manner of sprocket gearing. to facilitate such tearing of a pocket, the J strip'is weakened at the intersection of the pockets by means of slits 6.

The pocket strip may be made of comparatively stout paper having its side edges bent upon the body of the paper, as shown at 7. Each bent over portion 7 of each pocket is secured near respective ends by means of suitable adhesive material and thus receptacles are formed for the side edges of a stamp or stamps. The stamp or stamps can 'be readily inserted into the receptacles and as the central body portions of the stamps are exposed they can be readily removed from the pocket.

Having fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is,

1. A flexible pocket strip comprising a connected series of pockets, each comprising receptacles at respective edges of the strip and said stri having notches in its side edges at the intersection of the receptacles of adjacent pockets for the accommodation of feeding means.

2. A flexible pocket strip comprising a connected series of removable pockets for the reception of postage stamps, each of said strip having its side edges folded over, each of said bent over portions being secured at its ends and forming receptacles for diametrically opposite portions of a stamp.

4.
