To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. KRUMSEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have -invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas Stove Stands, of which the following is a specication.

My invention relates to improvements in gas stove stands, and more particularly to a stand designed to support a gas stove and plate for cooking purposes, the object being to provide a simple and inexpensive device of this character particularly adapted to collect drippings from the superimposed stove and plate.

A further object of my invention is to provide folding legs for supporting the stand and a detachable vertically disposed back plate, in order that the stand may be folded into a small compass and stored away when not in use.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

With these objects in view my invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts all as will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

My invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,

Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved gas stove stand in its preferred form, Fig. 2- is a vertical longitudinal section taken on line m ac of Fig. 1 showing the manner in which the legs are folded, Fig. 3 is a rear elevation showing the detachable back plate, Fig. 4 is a detail horizontal section taken on line y y of Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 is a detail transverse section taken on line .a c of Fig. 3.

Referring now to the drawings 1 indicates the rectangular stand top and 2 the angle iron supporting legs hingedly connected thereto. The two legs at each end of the stand are rigidly connected to each other by means of the transverse members 3 riveted thereto, and by means of the members 4t integral therewith, the resulting frame being pivoted to the corner plates 5 by means of the rivets 6, said corner plates being secured to the longitudinal angle iron members 7 by means of the rivets 8. The angle irons 7 are rigidly secured to top 1 by means of. screws or rivets. Thus the leg frames are adapted to swing as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2. The stand top 1 is slightly flexible at the point 9 in order that the legs may assume the vertical position without difficulty. Rivet heads 10 are secured in the members 4 and spring hooks 11 formed in the ends of the longitudinal member 12 are adapted to spring over said rivet heads for locking the legs in the vertical position, said longitudinal member being centrally disposed under the stand top 1 and riveted thereto.

To unlock the legs, when it is desired to fold the same, it is necessary to pull the spring hooks 11 downwardly, thus releasing their hold on the rivet heads 10.

At the rear of the stand two vertical standards 13 are provided, the same being secured to the legs 2 by means of the rivets 14. A back plate 15 is detachably secured to the standards 13 by means of sheet metal loops 16 riveted thereto in such a manner that the same may readily engage said standards, the lat-ter having rounded ends.

Al reinforcing wire edge 17 is provided on the-top and ends of the back plate 15 as shown in Figs. 3 and 4c which obviously renders the plate strong and durable.

Upwardly extending flanges 18 are provided at the rear and at the ends of the stand top 1, and an upwardly inclined apron 19 is provided at the front thereof, the lat ter being disposed in such a manner that the top may be readily cleaned but at the same gime prevent liquids from dripping onto the oor.

While I have shown what I deem to be the preferable form of my improved gas stove stand, I do not wish to be limited thereto as there might be slight modifications thereof which would be comprehended within the scope of my invention.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a gas stove stand, a rectangular stand top having rear and end flanges extending upwardly therefrom and disposed at right angles thereto, a front apron integral with and inclined upwardly from the main portion of said top, longitudinal angle iron members disposed under said top adjacent the front and rear edges thereof and secured thereto, corner plates riveted to the ends of said longitudinal members at the ends thereof, and leg frames pivoted to said corner plates, each of said frames comprising two legs having a transverse connecting member riveted thereto and a top transverse member integral therewith, substantially as and for the purpose speciied.

2. In a gas'stove stand, a stand top having side and rear upwardly extending lianges integral therewith, front and rear legs pivotally connected to said stand top and adapted spring hooks integral with said member and disposed at the ends thereof, longitudinal members secured to said top adjacent the frontend rear edges thereof, leg frames pivoted to said last named members comprising top transverse members, und rivet heads secured to said transverse members, said hooks being adapted to engage Suid rivet heads for holding said leg frames in the vertical or open position, substantially ns and fory the purposes speciiied.
