Be it known that l, VILLIAM BARTHoLo MEW, citizen `of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, and Statev of Illinois, have invented certain new and'use ful Improvements in CombinedDry-Room Convcyers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a combined dry s room conveyer, and particularly to a device thus avoiding the necessity of assorting the goods upon their delivery from the `dry A further object of the invention is to provide an improved construction of goods retaining jaws comprising a fixed jaw and a cooperating spring held jaw adapted to be engaged with the surface` of an inclined releasing device for the purpose' of deliver-r ing the goods held by the jaws, said releasing'device also being arranged to prevent lateral movement of the carrier during itsv action upon the jaw. t

For the purpose 'of illustration, the conveyer is shown provided with a 'carrier 14 of desirable construction. The carrier is `formed at lower portion with the cross bai-'15 y'having at its outer end a fixed jaw 16. Cooperating with the jaw 16 is the movable 17 pivotally mounted at 18 and normally held in contact with the aw by a tension spring, for instance, as shown at 19 in order to grip and retain the goods between the jaws. By a pressure applied to the'upper Aportion of these jaws by hand or otherwise the. goods may be introduced or released, andthe ten-` sion of the jaws is such Vthat the goods may also be placed therein by simply pushing the goods carriers which also may be of any pre- Yferred construction, but each arranged withy its same between the jaws which yield to re-- Y ceive the goods. For the purpose of auto! matically moving the spring held jaw 17, a
fixed position by. the hanger 21 from the trackor way. This device has an inclined face 38 adapted to.coperate with the inner face of the spring held jaw at its upper end and force it toward the liXed jaw, as shown by dotted lines in' Fig. 2, thus releasing the goods held-by the jaws.' The opposite face 22 of thisy device is preferably straight and lreleasing .device 20 is provided and held in J contacts with the body of the carrier 14 in order to prevent lateral displacement thereof when pressure-is applied to the spring held jaw. Associated with the carrier 14 is a carrier 23 of substantiallyfthe construction disclosed in myapplication for patent Serial No. 471,670. This forni of carrier shown in Fig. 4 and comprises generally a fixed gripping face 24 mounted upon the cross 'bar 25 `thereof and a .pivoted leverj 26-carried by said bar and haVinO' a cooperating gripping face 27. Having describedl my invention and set 'forth its merits, whatv I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A dry room conveyer arranged to travel in thel same horizontal plane throughout its path and provided with a series of downwardly disposed goods supporting devices arranged in a. common operative vertical plane and in relatively ditl'erent horizontal planes from that of the patlrof the conveyer, and a serios of goods releasing devices arranged in different horizontal planes and cooperating only with the supporting device orosei in the same horizontal plane with said releasing device -to automatically cause lthe delivery of goods therefrom.
2. Adry room conveyer'jarranged to travel in the same horizontal ylane throughout its path and provided wit a series of downwardly disposed 'having movable re easing members disposed oods supporting devices in the same operative 'vertical plane and in relatively ditierent horizontal pianos from that of the path of the conveyor, and a series of goods releasing devices arranged in diferent horizontal planes to engage said mem- 'i ber of the supporting devices which is dis-- posed in the same horizontal piane with the releasing device.
3. The combination with atraveiing con-- veyerdisposed in the same horizontal lane throughout its path, of a plurality of own-fA wardly discharging goods support Asdisposed in a common vertical plane and in dierent horizontal planes relative to the path of the between thehanger and movable jaw andl having a face to contact with said hanger i and an inclined face to move said jaw.
5. In a conveyer, a carrier provided with a hanger having a xed jaw and a coperatmg spring held jaw, and relatively fixed means adapted to enter between said hanger and spring jaw and having an inclined surface to engage and move said spring jaw and an opposite straight face to contact with the hanger of said carrier. y
6. In a conveyor, a carrier providedjwith a hanger having at its lowerportion a cross bar,-a lixed jaw mounted upon the outer end of said bar, a pivoted jaw mounted to cooperate With said fixed jaw, and a spring for retaining said jaws in cont-act.
7. In a conveyer, a carrier provided with a hanger having at its lower portion a cross bar, a fixedv jaw mounted upon the outer end of saidbar, a` pivoted jaw mounted to cooperate with said fixed jaw, a spring for retaining said jaws in contact, and a releasing plate disposed to engage v,said hanger and having an inclined outer face to contact with said pivoted jaw.
