This invention relates to window brackets, and more particularly to supports for holding a shade roller in engagement with a window frame.

The present invention is an improvement on the shade roller support shown and described in our patent granted March 23, 1909, No. 916,265.

The object of the present invention is to provide a bracket that will be more simple in construction, cost less to manufacture, and more easily adjusted than the support disclosed in our Patent No. 916,265.

WVe obtain the above objects by a bracket that will be hereinafter described in detail and then specifically pointed out in the appended claims and reference will now be had to the drawing forming a part of this application, wherein there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that the structural elements thereof can be varied or changed without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.

In the drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of a bracket or support constructed in accordance with our invention, Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of the bracket or support, taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1, Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view of the same, taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1, Fig. 5 is an elevation of a bracket or support adapted to be used in conjunction with the bracket or supports shown in Fig. 4, Fig. 6 is a horizontal sectional view of the same, taken on the line 66 of Fig. 5, Fig. 7 is a front elevation of a detached locking member, and Fig. 8 is a plan of the same.

In the drawings, 1 denotes an oblong metallic plate provided at the ends thereof with openings 2, to receive screws or nails (not shown) whereby said plate can be secured at one side of a window frame, (not shown), to cooperate with a similar plate at the opposite side of a window frame for supporting a shade roller. The plate 1 is cut or sheared to provide an oblong opening 3, the material bordering upon the upper and lower edges of the opening 3 being bent outwardly to provide longitudinal parallel guide flanges 4, while the material at one end of the opening is bent outwardly to form a stop 5.

6 designates a support having the outer end thereof provided with an opening 7 for the pintle 8 of a shade roller 9. The rear end of the support 6 is provided with oppositely disposed notches 10 to receive the oppositely disposed flanges 4 of the plate 1. That portion of the support 6 forming the rear end thereof is bent at right angles, as at 11, to engage the rear sides of the flanges 4, and connected to the right angular portion of said support is a rivet 12 having a large head 13.

14 designates a locking member which 1s movably held with relation to the support 6 by the rivet 12, said member having a large opening 15 providing clearance for the rivet 12 and a neck portion 16 of the support, also, a slot 17 permitting of the locking member being placed in position upon the support, said slot and the opening 15 re ceiving the support prior to the r1vet 12 being secured to the right angular portion 11 of said support.

18 designates oppositely disposed beveled enlargements carried by the rear side of the locking member 14 adjacent to the opening 15, while 19 designates a thumb piece carried by the edge of said member.

"With the locking members in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the beveled enlargements 18 engage the outer sides of the flanges 4, and bind the right angular portion 11 of the support 6 against said flanges, whereby the support is firmly held relative to the plate 1. By swinging the locking member downwardly or outwardly, the enlargements 18 are moved out of engagement with the flanges 4, and the support can be adjusted lengthwise of the plate 1. The thumb piece 19 facilitates the movement of the locking member 14.

The bracketor support shown in Figs.

5 and 6 is provided With a slot 20 adapted l to cooperate with the opening 7 of the bracket or support shown in Fig. 3 for supporting the pintles or ends of the shade roller 9.

Having now described our invention, what we claim as new, is

1. A bracket of the character described, comprising an oblong plate having an oblong opening formed therein with the ma terial bordering upon the longitudinal edges of said opening bent outwardly to provide guide flanges, a shade roller support positioned at right angles to said plate and slidably held in engagement with the flanges thereof, and a. locking plate having an opening through which the shade roller support extends, said locking plate being shiftable on the shade roller support to lock the latter in adjusted position.
