ASH-TRAY;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1909.
Application file'd November 3, 1908. Serial No. 460,931.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIEGFRIED GRt'rNTHAL, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of 79 Schwanthalerstrasse, Munich, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to Ash-Trays, of which the following is a specification.
I know that there exist ash-trays in which the ashes and the remaining parts of cigars glide through a circular slot between an outer and an inner funnel into a covered casing.
My present invention relates to a special construction of such funnel which does not need any inside mountings which are inconvenient at the emptying and cleaning of the ash-tray and which allows a simple and quick managing during the opening and cleaning of the casing.
In the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated my improved ash-tray like letters of reference refer to like parts throughout the different views.
In said drawings Figure 1 shows a plansection on lines II-of Fig. 1.
The inner funnel c is formed by the casing a the bottom of which is pressed inward in the shape of a funnel. The upper end of said funnel shows the form of a short pipe (1 serving for the reception of a bolt 9. In
' other words the whole casing at including the inner funnel c and the short pipe at consists of one piece only and it can therefore be easily cleaned without injuring the same. The upper edge of the casing a is bent in- 'ward in order to safely support the border b of the outer funnel e which shortly before striking against the inner funnel c is provided with a circular cutting and bent outward at its lower edge 7. The funnel e consists also of one piece and is provided with If one of the well known match-boxes i is screwed upon the bolt 9 the upper part of the fork is is pressed down u on the border of the bolt 9 and by the stram exercised on the elastic fork the funnel e is firmly pressed upon the casing a.
In order to loosen the funnel f the box 2' is unscrewed and the funnel lifted by its elastic fork riveted to the same. a
What I claim as new and desire to secure by a United States Letters Patent is In an ash-tray in which the ashes glide through a slot between an outer and an inner funne into a covered casing the combination of a casing having its bottom pressed inward in form of an upward directed funnel and ending. into a short pipe, and a cover having also the shape of a funnel and formin by its lower outwardly bent edge a circu ar slot- 1908, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
