To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERBERT D. CROUCH, citizen of the United States, residing at Montreal, in the Province of Quebec, Dominion of Canada, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Annunciator- Cases, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description.

My invention relates to an annunciator case, and its object is to provide an eflicient structure which is compact, cheap to manufacture, waterproof and at the same time attendant, who on hearing the alarm notes the location of the thermostatic device whose operation has been indicated, operates the cut out switch corresponding to the particular drop which was operated, and then restores said drop. The operation of the cut out switch opens the drop circuit which would otherwise have remained closed until the thermostatic device was repaired. The resetting of the drop opens the alarm circuit, thereby putting said circuit into condition to indicate the operation of any other drop which may be operated.

My invention relates to an annunciator case designed to meet the requirements of a system of the type described.

My invention may be more fully understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the case, with parts broken away; Fig. 2 is a side elevation with parts broken away; and Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view.

Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in each of the figures of the drawing.

The case comprises a rear section 1 and a front section 2, the two parts having a gasket 3 between their flanged meeting edges, and being secured together by screws t. The sections thus form a box for containing the alarm mechanism. Said sections are also secured together by hinges 5, so that upon removing the screws 4 the front section 2 can be swung out to permit access to the interior of the case.

The frame of each section is preferably of cast metal. The back 6 of section 1 may be of sheet metal, soldered or otherwise suitably secured in place. A wooden back board 7 is secured upon the interior in the rear of section 1. he cable 8 is led in through an opening in the bottom of the rear section. The front section is divided into an upper compartment 9 and a lower compartment 10, in which the drops 11 and the cut out switches 12, respectively, are mounted. The upper compartment has a glass front rendered opaque except at the windows 1%, through which the targets of the drops, when operated, are visible. Said glass front is fixedly held in place and the joints are rendered waterproof by any convenient means. A resetting device 15 for restoring the drops extends down through the case and rests upon a flexible membrane 16, whereby it is made operable from the outside without impairing the waterproof construction of the case. The lower compartment 10 is divided vertically by a plate 17 into afront and a rear portion. The cut out switches 12 are mounted on the rear of said plate, said switches being controlled by plungers 18 extending through said plate and having their stems rendered wateroroof by packing. By making said stems waterproof it is unnecessary to make the cover of the lower compartment waterproof. This is a decided advantage, since it is thereby unnecessary to render the outer cover of the compartment waterproof, and a hinged door 19 may be used, affording ready accessibility to the plungers 18.

From the foregoing description, it is apparent that the case comprising my invention is such that the mechanism is mounted in waterproof compartments, and that the switches which it will be necessary to manipulate are readily accessible by merely opening a hinged door. Moreover, by removing the screws 4 and swinging the front section on the hinges 5, the interior mechanism may be readily gotten at for repair.

I claim:

1. An annunciator case comprising front and rear sections, a wall dividing said front section into an upper compartment for inedges of said sections watertight, and horizontal and Vertical watertight plates dividing said front section into an upper compartment and lower front and rear compartments, the portion of the front wall of said casing covering said lower front compartment forming a door to said front com partment, accessible from the exterior of said case.
