Inorder that the amount of the solution carried out of the pans 18, 1f), by the feed rolls 39, 4() and 41, may be adjustably regulated, Vanes 86, which Wipe the these rollers, are provided. (hie of these vvenes is illustrated in detail in Fig. 7 et the drawings. As there shown it is carried by a spindle 87, which` extends across the traine 14 and is journaled in the side members 15, 16, of the frame. Means are provided tor angularly. adjusting` the spindle 87 to cause the free edge ot' the vane 86 to bear with more or less force upon the periphery ot the ladjacent feed roll. To this end a worin Wheel 88 is mounted upon one end of the spindle, and a Worin shaft 89, rotatablymounted in a bracket 90 secured to the adjacent sidenieniber of the frame and havingra knurlcd head 91, cooperates with the worin wheel 8S. rlhe vanes 8V provided for wiping the periphery of the feed rolls i0 and 41, are identical in construction with that provided for wiping the periphery of the feed roll 3i), and shown lin detail in Fig. 7 of the drawi except that the corresponding spindles 3 and worin shafts 89 are carried by the bracki'at-arnis 53, 54. as shown in Fig. 1, instead ol.i by .the fraine members 15, 1G.
Means `are also desirably provided for wiping the coating' solution troni "the sides of the feed rolls 39, 4() and 4.1. For this purpose yielding angulady-adjustable vanes mounted on the side walls of the pans, as 18 (Figs. 3and 7), for bearing upon the sides of tli'ieed rolls, as 39. As

As the bracket arms 53, 5e, swing'about the shaft 55 which carries the driving gear (SLL, as a center, the adjustment of thefeed rolls 4:0 Vand il does not interfere with the engagement between the gears 65, 66, and the driving gear G4. The degree of force With which the brushes 42, 43, bear upon the surface of the web X as it turns over the roller ,44, may be adjusted by a use of the' setscrews 62, Which determine the elevation 'at which the bracket arms 59, 60, are sup ported.
` The machine asorganized will eii'ectually apply a solution of pyroxylin to the gelatin surface of a moving picture machie film, thereby causing the gelatin to be protected upon both sides by a web of substantially the same character. The various parts of the machine are so disposed that they are conveniently accessible for cleaning and Jfor renewal and repair.
