To all 'whomt'tmag/concern;

Be it known that I-,CHARLEsAL BIKLE, of Haf gerstown, in the county of Washington, and State of arator; and it also consistsof a device for feeding the grain and chaff in an even sheet through the separator, and for giving the shoe a shaking motion.

In the accompanying drawings--` Figure 1 is a side perspective view of my machine. Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of f the same.

Figure 3 is one of my sectors, detached.

The sectors are pivoted at c c, and are connected, by the projection I-and the link H, with the register A B, so that the vibration of the sectors shall open o1l close the register, and thus regulate the amount of air admitted to thefan-case.

G is the bar on the outside end ot' the sectors, carrying the counterpoisc K.

By this arrangement, the increase of" the speed of the fan increases the force ofthe air upon the boards D, moving them and the sectors downward, and thus, through thelinks'I-l, closing the register and regulatev ing the blast. Y

As 'the blast becomes weaker, the sectors swing,

back, by means of the Weighted bar G, and thus the register is immediately opened.

By this means, the blast is kept constantly the same,

whatever may be the speed of the blower.

The weight upon the bar G may he increased ordivminished at pleasure, so that the blast can be regulated tQ snit all kinds of grain.

For the purpose of feeding the grain and chaff in an even sheet to the separator, I employ a metallicl My arrangement requires two of these sectors, con-Y toothed roller, L, which causes* the chaff, &c., to spread in an even manuel' over the riddles or other devices,

and also gives the shoe N a shaking motion.

Having thus fully described my invention,
