bottle holders. .It is designed to provide av receptacle or container for-bottles, jars and other vessels which are locked against unauthorized removal. It is especially de` signed for use in connection with the milk trade.
It is Well known that at the present time it is customary for. milkmen to deliver milk 2O sanitary and in order to be sure of this it is in bottles orjars and thatmany people desire to be sure that the bottles or jars in which the milk is delivered are clean and necessary that the bottles be cleansed under "their own direction and never left to be cleaned by the -milkman or his assistants. To this end it is necessary that the milk taker provide and care for his own bottles and in order to be assured that the bottles are notv changed it is necessary to providesome means whereby they may be readily identified.
The object of this invention is to provlde means whereby the milk taker may be sure -that the bottle is not exchanged.
Of course it will be apparent that this invention may be used in other arts and businesses wherever the. same would be desirable.
In the drawings herewith accompanying and making part of this application, Figure l is a vertical transverse sectional view of my improved bottle' holder; Fig. 2 1 s detail views of the locking clip for locking the 40 cover to the case; Fig. 3 is detail views of the locking clip for locking the bottle keeper in the case; Fig. 4 is detail views of the locking latch for case; Fig. 5 is an elevation of a key for unlocking the bottle keeper from the holderl and Fig. 6 is an elevation Of a combined escutcheon and cover locking device. v

In said drawings B is a bottle holding case or housing of any suitable form and of any suitable material. The case is provided with areover A hinged to the top thereof by a suitable hinge K and provided at its front with a locking clip F. A spring plate 1s secured to the outside of the case which 1s provided locking the bottle keeper in the with an opening It to receive the clip F in locking engagement as seen in Fig. l. Inside of the case is a tubular keeper l), the opening being smaller than the greatest diameter of the bottle but large enough to give entrance to the top and neck. may be locked in any convenient manner, of which I 4have shown one. As shown a clip O is secured to the outside of the keeper and provided with an 'inclined lock bar (7). To the Vinside of the case is rigidly secured a vspring latch I provided with a curved locking end 1I adapted to spring into' locking` engagement-with the lock bar O and to be disengaged by means of key I'I which turns against it forcing it out of engagement with the lock bar O. The bottle keeper I) is locked automatically. WV hen it is forced down into the case the keeper O strikes the 'curved end Il of the latch I forcing it to one side until the keeper enters far enough, when the part I of the spring passes over the top of the keeper O which it does automatically, in consequence of the spring-like character of locking bar I. The bottle preferably rests upon a conical cushion spring J mounted in the bottom of the case.
The cover A is preferably provided with a disk-like center'l" positioned so as to fit into the mouthl of the bottle or jar when the cover is closed down upon the case as seen in-.Fig. l. Disk T may serve, if desired, as a stopper for the bottle or the bottle may be provided with the usual disk cap P in l case forcing the keeper'downwardly untillocking latch I engages the keeper O', then close the Vcover down upon the case. The keeper F forces the spring latch G outwardly until it registers with a hold R in the latch when the latch by reason of its spring ten'- sion immediately passes into locking engagement with the keeper kThe case with the bottle locked therein is then givento .the
