AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
ject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State ot' New York, have invented a ne and improved .Amusement Device, of which the following is a full, clear, and exa ct description.
This invention relates to amusement dcvices, ofthat typein which a carriage is adapted to travel over a sinuous track1 and which is adapted to receive an'occupant, who is to be carried along thereby and who either rests his feet on a support connected to the earriage and rolling along an undulating` surface, or who has skates on his feet which' travel on said undulating surface.
Generally speaking, the invention consists in a series of sinuous undulating tracks connected to an undulating surface, and which are adapted to 'receive' a carriage which travels thereon, said carriage being adapted to carry an occupant whose feet rest on suitable supporting rollers which ,travel on the undulating surface.
The invention further consists in the construction and combination of parts, to -be more fully described hereinafter and particularly set. forth in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompany-4 ing drawings forming a part of this specitlcation, in which similar characters of referencc indicate corresponding parts in all the Views, and in which* Figure l is aside view of my device, showing one side of the track-support. and tracksA removed; Fig. 2 is a cross sectional elevation showing an end view ot the carriage on the track; F ig. 3 is a view in clevation,`
.showing a modified form of carriage in which the skate-wheels are directly attached to the carriage; Fig.4 4 is an end View of the saine; Fig. 5 is a perspective view, showing` the device running on an inclined slope; Fig. is a vertical side view showing the /wavy nature of the tracks and path g: and Fig. 7 is a top plan view showing the sinuous nature of the tracks and path.
Referring more particularly to the separate parts of the device, l indicates supporting upriglitsito which are attached in any suitable manner supporting beams 2.. Sccured in any .suitable manner to the supporting beams 2 is a path 3 having an undulat l course. The supporting uprights 1 eaiieutl v ri vets l riage. ing surface, and which also forms a Sinuous l ln the operation of the device in theforin i s1:

upwardly above the'. path 3 and form surable supports for a plurality of tracks -land which are adapted to receive a carriage n.
VThe tracks 4. and 5 are made of any suitable material and in any suitable fornu but aripreferably undulating a ngle-irons wit h their angles facing away from each other, so that the wheels 7, 7, which are secured in any suitable manner to the carriage (S, will enf gage the tracks on'opposite sides and-'force the carriage to follow the course oll the tracks, and thus transmit to the carriage an undulating sinuous travel, and also prevent The carriage shown 'in Figs. l and i2 haz-1 a body portion 8 which is substantially U-shaped in forni, and which has attached to the sides thereof and near the ends of the said sides, substantially vertical hangers El and-107 which are secured in any suitable manner to the sides of the body portion S, as by means ot.' bolts or rivets il, and are adapted to rotatably supportA at opposite ends thereof the wheels orrollers 7. each side of the body portion S are also secured in any.suitable.mannen as by mearls of rivets 12 hand grips 13, which are made ofany suitable materiahsuch as an iron rod, and are preferably substantially Ushaped. Secured to each side of the body portion in any suitable manner and extending downwardly therefrom are :i pair of guards it, ist,
Ywhich are coiinect-ed at their lower ends by means of a U-shaped rest l5, which may bc connected in any suitable i'nanuer to the guards 14 but is preferablyintegral there-A 1 6 and 17, which-are secured in any suitableA manner, as by means of rivets 18 to the body portion 19, which extends vertically down ward, and is in a substantially U-shaped form having a bottom cross member 20 that forms a support to which are adapted to bey fastened in any suitable manner, roller skatesZl. Secured in any suitable manner to the upper hangers le, as by means of 09 are handles 23, which are adapted to be grasped by the occupant of thc carit from being jolted away from the path i5.
lill' any suitable form on his feet and steps in grasps thehan d skates, the skates being'. already attached 'to the carriage, and
Patent and a path, below said' track', adapted to tion with a support, of a plurality of undu- 4. In Aan amusement shown in Figs. I and 2, the person who is', to
ake this pleasurable trip plades skates ofi between the 'side members 'to the body.8 and grips 18, the carriage being preferably at an elevated point. The -carriage is then released and travels .down thev sinuous path 3, which is also undulate'd. The' tracks t and conformto the curves and undu'lations of the patlr 3, vand the oc# cupant of the carriage 'is given a delightful, twisting and vbillovvy.motion ,In the form shown in Figs. rider is not obliged to provide himself with all he has 'to do is to aboard and take his pleasurable ride.
Having thus described ny.' invention, I- claim as new and desire to secure'by Letters jump l.. In an amusement device, the combination with a support, of a plurality of' tracks on each side of said support, a carriage for said tracks adapted to receiveanoccupant,
support part of the weight ofpsaid occupant.
L. In an amusement device, the combinalating tracks on said support, said tracks adapted to receive an occu mnt, and an undulatingpath independent ot said tracks, adapted .to support part ot the weight of the occupant.4 'A
3. In an amusement device, the combination with a support, of a plurality of oppositely-facing tracks on said support, a carriage adapted to run on said tracks, and an undulating path on said support /below said tracks.
