Description

v A. BOLEG.
DRYING APPARATUS.
APPLICATION FILED DBO. a1, 1907.
932,106. Patented Aug.24,1909.
Inventor:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADOLF BOLEG, OF ROROHAGH, SWITZERLAND.
DRYING- APPARATUS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that'I, AnoLr BOLEG, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Rorchach, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drying Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for moving the hurdles of drying apparatus in which the hurdles, being superposed, are moved in a common way through the drying shaft and are singly lifted or lowered respectively in front of the latter through the medium of a table.
The accompanying drawing shows in Fig ures l and 2 in elevation and plan respectively the improved device, while Figs. 8 and l are modifications of single parts of the same, the Figs. 5 to 7 showing diagrammatically the different positions of the table during the working of the device.
(in a drying apparatus or shaft (Z levers (Z and c are fulcrumed at Z) and c and provided at their ends f and g with a movable table it. From the points 2' of the levers (Z and by chains or ropes guided over rollers .9, s rods c are suspended which lead transversely through the drying shaft a. In the shaft a a series of hurdles m, are disposed and supported by pawls Z. One hurdle m stands on the table it. The free ends of the levers (Z and c are engaged by chains or ropes n which over rollers lead to a winch 0.
The operation of the device is as follows :The hurdle m standing on the table it is, after being loaded with the material to be dried, shifted from below into the drying shaft (2/. whereupon the winch 0 is actuated which moves the levers (Z and e upward. Table h participates in this movement and is by the parallelogram-shaped arrangement of the levers (Z and e always kept in horizontal position. At the same time the rods 72 are moved upward lifting thereby the inserted hurdle m together with the whole se- Specification of Letters Patent.

ries of hurdles. Upon the table having arrived in the respective height, the uppermost hurdle m can from the shaft (4 be shifted on the table. This being done the levers (Z and e, the table with hurdle m, and the rods Zc, are again lowered by means of the winch 0. The series of hurdles lying above said rods do now not participate in this downward movement as they are prevented from doing so by the pawls. The hurdle we having being lowered with the table Z2, is now freshly charged, the proceeding described being then repeated, and so on.
The lever arrangement in the shape of a parallelogram may be also replaced by the arrangement shown in Fig. 3. In this case, only the levers (Z are required, the table it being kept in horizontal position by means of chain p. Chain wheel g is fixed on the shaft CZ and chain wheel r on the table it. The former cannot turn at all and the latter only together with the table. The lever (Z may be also arranged double-armed, as shown in Fig. 4;.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a drying apparatus, the combination with the drying shaft and the superposed hurdles, levers fulcrumed on one side of said shaft, means to operate said levers, a table movably arranged on the ends of said levers and designed to lift or lower said hurdles in front of said shaft, and means for moving said hurdles within said shaft consisting of rods movably suspended from said levers, all for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ADOLF BOLEG.
