WERNER MENZEL, OF
HANOVER, GERMANY.
SAFE TY-FUSE Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 10, 1909.
Application filed August 8, 1906. Serial No. 828,992. I
To all whom it may, concern:
Be it known that I, WERNER MENZEL, engincer, a subject of the King of Prussia, residing at 7 Kla esmarkt, in the city of Hanover, German mpire, have invented a new and useful Im rovement in Electric Safety- Fuses, of whic 1 the following is a specification.
My invention relates to safety fuse plug mechanism for electrical circuits, and has for its object the provision of means whereby the substitution of fuse plugs of different capacity, from the predetermined one, will be prevented.
The object of my invention is illustrated on the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a sectional view of the fuse-box havin the plu inserted. Fig. 2 shows a side e evation 0 the plug, Fig. 3 shows the same in plan, ig. 4 is a plan view of the fuse-box shown by Fig. 1, Fig. 5 shows in sectional view the endortion of a modified construction of the soc et of the fuse-box, and Fig. 6 shows said socket in plan.
With reference to the drawing a is the fuse-box which consists of the base plate I) and an upright circular wall 0. To the base plate there are attached contact screws (1 avi central bores at one end and nuts at the (i tlier end. These to the base late I) by means of nuts e. The upright wall a is covered by a socket f of sheetalmetal or the like. This socket has a centr o e g.
The pl iig o l the fuse consists of a cylindrical casing it provided at one end with two contact pins '5 correspondin to the borings of the contact screws 11. T e other ends of these pins project into the inner space of the casing and are in connection with the fuse wire They are held in position-by nuts Z. The c lindrical outer surfaceof the phi is provi ed with a radially prpjecting rib m elng' adjusted in a predetermined position to the contact t, accordingto the capacity proper of t e fuse; Corresponding to the. position and shape of the rib m to the edge screws (1 are fastened of the socket f forming the openin 9 there is arranged a notch 71, so that the p ug h with its contact pins may be inserted into the boxes of the contact screws (1, having the rib m at another place or the ri of another shape is prevented from insertion.
The socket f is fastened to the fuse-box a by means of a set screw 0. For this urpose corres onding perforations are rovi ed at a suitab e lace of the socket wa and theupright wal c. The screw 0 is inserted'from within and fastened by an outward nut In the modification of Figs. 5 and 6 at ti e front wall of the socket f 1s sovided a central fiat ring 9 the opening 0 which is somewhat narrower than that of the socket f. The ring has at its inner edge a notch n and is fastened by a set screw 0 and a nut pf screwed thereon. For this purpose corresponding perforations in the front wall of the socket and the ring are arran ed.
Having now described my invention what I claim is:
1. In a safety fuse plug mechanism the combination of a plug having a peripheral rib, contact pins, a fuse inclosed therein and connecting said pins, a fusebox".hav bored contact screws, a socket whichhas a notch coo 'erating with said rib, and a" set screw for -ocking said socket, as and for the purpose specified.
2. Ina safety fuse plug mechanism the combination of a plug having a peripheral rib, contact pins, a fuse inclosed therein and connecting said pins, a fuse-box, a socket, provided with an adjustable rin which has a notch cooperating with said ri and a set screw for ocking said ri in said socket, as
. and for the purpkose s eci ed.
1 In witness w ereo :I have hereunto set my hand 1n the presence of two witnesses.
