To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. Minna, a citizen of the United States, residing in Chicago ,'in the zcounty of Cook and State of Illinols, have invented a new and useful Im rovcment in Bolsters for Cars of other Ve -cles, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates to holsters for cars or other vehicles, and especially to those of s truss construction, comprising e. compres sion embersnd a tension member and an intervening strut,
Hemtofore, the holsters of the kind or class to which my invention relates, have ordinarily had the ends of the ilatfroller steel tension member folded over the ends of the compression members; and in order to secure the parte together under the proper tension so as to prevent bending or bowing of the compression member, it has been necessary to employ an expensive and special construction of machine b means of which the ends of the flat stee tension member could be folded over the ends of the comression member while the tension member 1s heated to s. high temperature in order that thesubsequent shrinkage of the metal may 've the parts their requisite or close tension` t with each other; And in case of breakage or other serious injury to either the com-4 pression member or tension member .or other part it has heretofore been necessary-to send the bolster back to the factory where it was made, 'or where the special machine for uniting the compression and tension members is located, `thus rendering repairs extremely diilicult, troublesome and expensive and frequently causin much car and trafiie dela The object o m .invention is to' provi e sn improved cons ruction of trussed rolled steel bolster, by means ofewhich these diffi- Bpeccation of Letters Patent.
