Be it known that I, S'rAnwoon E. FLion'r- NER, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Englewood, county of BergemState of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Supports for V apor-Lanips, of which the. following is a specification.
The present invention relates to frames for vapor electric lamps such as are represented by the well-known mercury vapor lamps now in common use.
lhe special object of the invention is to provide means whereby the starting of such lamps may be readily accomplished either singly or in groups by means of tilting apparatus iii-which connection is first made between the negative and positive electrodes through a stream orcolumn of mercury, and afterward, such connection is broken by a proper manipulation of the apparatus, so that the current which originally flowed through the vapor column or stream shall pass through the vapor path between the main positive and the main negative elec trodes.
It has been found in practice that a "ariety of tilting frames is required for various purposes, whether for photographing by means of mercury vapor lamps, or for printing, enlarging or copying, as thecasc may be.
This application is a division of my application filed July 28, 1904, Serial Number 218,473, and relates to a special application of the invention therein described and shown.'
The drawing represents an elevation,
so-called continuous blue printing.
In the drawing, the lamp tube 2, is represented as being supported upon a rod, 1, being clamped thereto by clips, 3, 3. The rod itself is pivoted at to a suspension bar,
5, which is ii'astencd to the'ceiling or other support at (3 as shown. The leads, 7, 7, from either end of the lamp are connected to connectors, 8, 8, mounted on the end of the main rod 1. The wires pass through this supporting rod, through the curved rods, 9, 9, and into the supporting bar 5 at the pivot thereof as shown. The reflector 10 is also indicated in this drawing and a rod or chain, 11, is shown depending from the apparatus.
To start the lamp into operation the chain 11' may be pulled down and afterward re leased whereupon the lamp will be started.
I claim as my invention:-
The combination with a vapor electric lamp, of a support comprising a depending hollow arm, a pair of hollow curved arms hinged to said depending arm, a hollow supporting rod with which said curved arms are connected, circuit wires leading to the electrodes of the lamp through the said hollow parts or devices, and connectors secured to the ends ot the hollow supporting rod, as set forth.
