Description

D. SALOMONE.
FROG.
APPLIOATION FILED MAR.31,19094 Patented June 22, 1909.
Fiat
INVENTOR WITNESSES i i 1. Q V A ,s L r track 2 1n the opposlte direction from that tor being engaged by the ears passing on the first described the front Wheel on'said ear Wiil engage with the point 5 on said frog by its flange and throw said. point against the Wing'- rail 2 to thereby form a continuous rail 1 on said track and enable the ear to over said frog in either direction, whiie the outer end 10 of the arm 9 on said frog adjacent to the rail of said track conneeting the wingring 3 Will be thrown inward a 'ainst said rail and the end H) of the other arm 9 on said frog will be thrown outward, as shown in F 2.
it will thus be seen that my improved frog can be applied to the usual form of'olossings and other tracks without necessitating any change in the tracks, and its use will insure l l i e continuous rail for the tracks at ailtimes for the going in either direction on said treelrs, so that such cars will always be insured to being kept on the tracks, and will not be liable to become derailed at the frrw connection, frequently happen with the ordinary form of these fro reg be easilj, and cheaply mainline trn'ed, will not require any unusual skill in setting or placing the same in position, and will always be in position for being operated by 1111C cars. It will dispense with the use of guard rails at the frog connection and will not interfere With the tracks or other parts generally used a eon. Various modifications and changes in the design and construction oi my iniprox 'ed. frog may be resorted to without depn" from the spirit of the invention or set f' any of its advantages.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
1. The combination with the track raiis having the Wing-rails thereon, of e ha?- mg a movable point, and means on said hog and extending around and beyond said point track rails to move said ment with said wing-rails.
The combination with the tliLGl'fliLllS havln the win -rails thereon of a frog hav- C b 7 mg a movable point, and arms on said point and extending around and beyond the same for being engaged by the cars passing on the track-rails to move said point in engagement Wit point in engage n seid wingnails.
'l he combination with the traelorails having the wing-rails thereon, of frog having a movable point, and arms on said point and extending around the same and Wingrails to the track-rails for being engaged by the ears passing over said track-rails to move said point in engagement with said Wing-- rails.
4 The combination with the track-rails rig the Wing-rails thereon, of a frog hawmg a movable point, and arms on said point and extending around the same and. Wingrails to the tide ails, said arms being ad; )tod toextoud ,bove sail track-rods for being engaged ly the wheels of cars passing over said traclr rails to move said point in em gagement with w lug-rails.
5. The combination with the track-rails having the wing-rails thereon, 01 a frog having a morable point, and arms on said point and extending around the same and Wing'- TAO Midi ECO 'rosnrrn MARINELLL rails to the traelr-rails ssidarnis bein adaat
