No. 922,863. I Specification of Letters Patent. Patented May 25, 1909.
Application filed. November 15, 1907. Serial No. 402,362.
To allwhom it may concern: screw 3, and the latter rotated to convey Beitknovm that LEMiLn DOB-DELATTRE, material through the casing 4 over the rea resident of Liege, Belgium, a subject of the ceptacle 1, the compartments 11, 12, 13, 1% King of the Belgians, engineer, have inventand of said receptacle will be successively 5 ed certain new and useful Improvements in 1 filled. When the receptacle 1 is completely Apparatus for Obtaining Intimate Mixtures, filled or the desired amount of material deof which the following is a full, clear, and posited therein, the supply of material is exact description, such as will enable others cut-off; and thereafter the conveyers 5 and skilled in the art to which it appertains to 8 are started and the direction of movement of the feeding screw 3 reversed. The conpresent invention relates to an appaveyer 5 operates to remove the material ratus for mixing materials and has forits from the receptacle 1, each of the c0mpartobject to provide means by which materials ments in said receptacle simultaneously disol" different character or of dillerent degrees charging u on the conveyor and thereby the 15 of fineness may be thoroughly mixed. several su stances previously contained n in the accompanyingdrawing, Figure 1 is said receptacle will be prlmarily'inixed as a irontview ofan'apparatus constructed in they are delivered to the screw conveyer 8.

An apparatus for the urpose described he mixed are successively delivered to the 1 comprisin two; rece tac es, a conveyer lower leg of the elevator 7 or to the conveyor traveling beneath eacli receptacle, an ele-' 8 and the valve 9 is adjusted into position to vator adapted to receive material from both 5 extend across the dischar e chute. Power conveyers and to carry the same to points being supplied to. the eivator and feed above the receptacles, means for transporting material delivered by the elevator to either of the receptacles, a discharge chute material discharged by the elevator is delivered to either said transporting means or chute.
2. An apparatus l'orthe purpose described comprising two receptacles, nreans lor con- I veying material from the lower endot' either receptacle to the upper end of the other includlng a reversible conveyor adapted to deliver material to one receptacle when moving in one direction and to the other receptacle when moving in the opposite direction. 3. An apparatus for the purpose described comprising two receptacles, a reversible l'eeding device adapted when moving in one direction to deliver material to one rr-rccptacle and to deliver material to the other receptacle when moving in the opposite direction, independent conveyors each adapted to receive material lrorn one of the r-er -eptacles,
an elevator adapted to deliver material to the feeding device, and means for transport ing material from both said conveyors to the elevator.
4i. Aruapparatus for mixing substances, comprising two receptacles having vertical compartments, a reversible screw conveyor for feeding the substances to either of said arranged to receive material from the elevator, and a controlling device by which receptacles, means for emptying said receptacles by horizontal layers, .an elevator delivering to said screw conveyor, and means l'or transporting the material of said layers to said elevator.
5. An apparatus for mixing substances, comprising two receptacles having vertical con'ipartn'icnts, means for feeding the substances to the successive compartments of by said double screw conveyor and delivering to said reversible screw conveyor.
7. An apparatus for mixing substances, comprising two receptacles having vertical compartments, a reversible screw conveyer" feeding the substances to the successive com partnrents of either receptacle, alternately operating transporters emptying said receptacles in turn by horizontal layers, a double screw conveyor receiving from one 01 said transporters, an elevator ted by said double screw convey-er, said elevator normally delivering to said reversible screw conveyer, and a pivoted trap movable into the line of delivery of said elevator.
b. 'An apparatus for the purpose described, comprising two receptacles each having its interior divided into a plurality of vertical compartments, a conveyor traveling beneath each receptacle and adapted to simultaneously receive material, from all of the compartments thereof, an elevator adapted to receive material from both said conveyors,
and deliver the same above the receptacles, 'means for transporting material delivered by the elevator to the several compartments of one receptacle successively when operated in one direction, and similarly to the other receptacle when operated in a dill'erent direction, and means for causing said elevator to deliver the material at a point outside ol' both said receptacles. V 1
9. An apparatus for the purposedescribed, comprising two receptacles each having its interior divided into a plurality of verticalcompartments, a conveyor traveling beneath each receptacle and adapted to simultaneously receive material from all of the conrpartrnents thereof, an elevator adapted to receive material from both'said conveyors, means for receiving material lronr said corrvcyer and discharging the samc'into the cornpartrnents of either receptacle and means for causing the elevator to discharge its contents at a point outsrdeof eitherof said receptacles.
lri testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
